You can thank me later, but I’m about to purchase the Zf for my 3rd time. That silver has won me over. This of course means the zf with z7ii sensor in it will be out in about 30 days after my return window is up.
Question - most people still like the small rig grip or is there any new player on the scene? Megadap still working fine for adapting Sony lenses?
1) the Zf has changed my preference from NEEDING high res files. Paired with great glass, there’s little you can’t do with that sensor if you can avoid cropping.

IMO , 24-30mp is sweet spot for ZF.
The high res leaves to Z7 and on.
There will never be a Z7iii, so it would be nice if that sensor wound up in another small body.
Ultimately, even a high res Z5 variant would be killer. Just give us the sensor with Expeed 7 in a body that is sized for hiking, that's all anyone wants. There are too many QoL issues I have with the Z7ii to go back.

Silver won me over too. Took a bit to get the Sepia though... according to the Nikon Rep, they "remove one from the assembly line and put the Sepia material on it", aka hand made. Idk how believable that is but it did take a while to get it.

My thinking more and more is we may eventually see a Z7III after the Z9II and possibly the Z8II as a mini Z8 using the Z8s sensor. This would allow all of Nikon's "primary" cameras to have very good video specs, and who knows, maybe even the Z5III will end up getting the 24mp partially stacked sensor to bump the video specs.
I agree with you too, give me the 45mp sensor with Expeed 7 in basically any smaller body and I will happily take it.
I also think that if Nikon eventually decides to give us a high MP camera, such as a 60mp + body, it's going to end up being a new line. Maybe even something like a Z8r where they can put the high MP sensor in a more "pro" body.

I would be mightily sad if the stacked sensor ends up in the Z7iii...I much prefer the IQ from the non-stacked for landscape applications. I'd still buy one though

And I thought I had finally convinced myself that even for a Silver ZF I should wait for a MP bump.... This site needs a warning: "Caution, visiting this site may cause excessive purchases." 😂

Same. Granted, if I could really dream, give me a Z7III with a 45mp stacked sensor for action, and ZFr with a non stacked 45mp sensor for landscapes, and I can probably never have to give a Sony camera a secound thought again

Here is what I think
There will be one has 60mp maybe not named as Z7III.
ZF might jump up to 30+mp then Z6 IV has 45mp.
Yea, I know Z6III just out but the 1st gen and 2nd gen was also two years apart. Same as Z7 1st and 2nd gen.
TBH, I'm looking for Z8II.
I purchased one couple months ago and I'm so happy to have it for wildlife shooting compared to my Z7II.
But the size and weight that make me look for Z8II anytime soon.
It is a beautiful camera. Have always liked the panda FM/FE’s. The Nikon 24mp sensor is still very good (even the partially stacked one). They have made many excellent photographs from the D600 on. Nikon definitely got their money’s worth out of that base sensor design.

Oh we are doing dream cameras now?
That would be a Nikon S rangefinder-styled non-stacked 45 megapixel with a fixed 35 mm F2.8 lens.
Hear my cries, oh Nikon!
When the ZR came out, it definitely had me thinking what if Nikon added a small evf or a hotshoe evf and added a shutter or a fully stacked sensor for a photo centric version.
I do agree, I would prefer a traditional 45mp sensor, but I would happily buy a 45mp stacked sensor in a ZR body. Nikon, just please don't do Sony a7c and give us a rear curtain shutter only with a traditional sensor

This is one of the only cameras I'll keep. Slapped a 3-Year extended warranty + accidental drops on it. Tbh, what won me over was Nikon's nice photos on their website lol, I also owned the Sepia Black but the Silver is much nicer.

Something is wrong with the sensor of the camera that TOOK the photo, hope it's not the silver

My thinking is the Z8II will pretty much keep the same body for people looking for a Z9ish experience without the vertical grip, and probably won't come out for at least a year after the Z9II. Which is part of why I said above, I think the Z7III will eventually come out as a stacked sensor mini Z8.
Also, my thinking is maybe the Z6IV will end up jumping up to 33mp now that Sony's partially stacked sensor came out in the a7v. Unless the Z9II gets something major like a 60mp stacked sensor or a 45mp global sensor, I don't think it's likely Nikon will put a 45mp in the Z9II and Z6IV.
