p.1 #1 · Pixel shift and stars photography?

Hello
I wonder if using Pixel Shift for a night sky can improve the overall image quality like stacking and/or give more reach for the same lens (zooming on Andromeda for exemple) ?

I doubt it. Are you using a drive? If not the star movement probably goofs it up

Really sharpness is more about polar alignment , from what I understand. Anything long enough to get closer on a DSO is going to show star movement at short ss, I get maybe 6-8 sec on 85mm, probably not really long enough FL to get Andromeda, and it already has motion

Stacking multiple photos is the only way for Deep Star Observations, I played around with it for a while last year using Affinity Photo as they have an Astrophotography function built it. Editing the photos is tricky and I struggled to get anything decent from it. I used a Star Tracker to get the images, its costly though.
