p.1 #1 · Stories in the Grain

Here’s an old log cabin I came across recently. I thought the weathered wood, uneven lines, and quiet setting really lent themselves to black and white. I liked how the contrast brought out the age and character of the structure while letting the surrounding hillside fall into shadow.

YES!!!
Indeed Scott! Olde weathered "outbuildings" always succomb to b&w rather nicely!
Wonderful tones only accent the wood!

Thanks, Dan! I really appreciate that. These old weathered structures just seem to come alive in black and white, and the textures were too good to pass up. Always appreciate your kind words and feedback!

Nice capture and processing, very impressed by the long wood logs.

Well seen and captured, Scott, I hope you have some detail shots or the opportunity to return to the site.
It looks to me to be a barn, rather than a human domicile.

Thanks, I think you guys are both right, definitely a barn. I guess I was more generically referring to it as a "log cabin" due to it's construction. Here's another angle that shows more of the front.
