It was cold and windy. Saw this Copper Hawk devouring his kill on the ground. He flew on to the nearby tree with the kill when he saw me. I could sense he is having a tough time so after few mins, he flew back to the oher side of thr groud behind thick bushes. I followed him and foud him . Later when checked the LR, it shows the distance to the subject at 11 meters
I had a similar experience in my backyard with a coopers hawk the had killed a pigeon. I was able to slither down the steps of my deck onto the wet grass and get to within eight yards by slithering like a snake, It totally ignored me and was able to get very similar frames. I felt sorry for the pigeon but was also glad to get it out from around my feeders. Bruce

Whoa! Check this out: Got super close to a hawk 🦅🔥. It was raw, intense, but all about respectful play. Giving it space while still getting that close? That’s a win for sure! GG!

I get your view point. I may have tread little too close to maybe invade his privacy in some way but i did make sure i keep the seperation as to not to alarm
