I used to be exclusively a landscape guy. Then I realized I live in a birding mecca and bought the 180-600. This infected me with the birding virus, and within a month I was the proud owner of a new (to me) Z8, 500 f/4E FL, FTZ2, TC1.4e, Wimberly sidekick and MH-100, and a monopod. I have shot birds at least 4x/week for the past 2 months. And my favorite images for the year are from a single session from a few weeks ago. I call the series "The essence of a bird". Here is a sample.
Well done everyone! Aside from some family shots throughout the year, it was a pretty sad state of affairs for me photography-wise. Looking forward to a promising 2026 though. All the best to everyone over the holiday season and 2026!

Didn't shoot nearly enough this year.
Shots from a trip to Hawaii and a tribute to my friend Charles R Cross
All on a Z7II & either 14-24 2.8s or 70-200 2.8s
Here are my favorites from this year. A bit of a year in transition. Only the first is from Sony as I have added a Fuji X mount system for travel and action.

Rather than looking for my favorites from the year I chose five from my favorite place I visited this year. One day at Bryce Canyon NP. My photos don't come close to capturing the beauty of this amazing place.

My favourite early springtime flowers. This year it was just blazing sunlight all the time while shooting them so I had to stay in the shadows...

Bought this Light Lens Lab lens during the late summer and put it on the Z8 with the Voigtländer Close focus adapter. This is shot with the adapter fully extended at 5mm. It's a dual sword with the adapter extended. Sometimes the lens looses character and sometimes it just goes wild depending on the situation. I very rarely share pictures here. I should, but somehow I don't. So, let's make an exception to that. Here are my five pictures from this year. Who knows what would be the best, but I figured I'll just post something that I've enjoyed myself during the year.

In another thread we are asked about what genre is the hardest. When reading the question and some of the replies I came to think about your series of images of your daughters (I guess, remembering the summer with Batis images you posted earlier).
Great images, arranged or not, milliseconds of everyday life when free from from work and school. I enjoyed seeing the images and I think you did super well seeing and grabbing the short moments around you.
Thank you for sharing!
