In January La Jolla gets inundated by photography groups that shoot the pelicans in peak color. But mid December is still relatively quiet, and there are plenty of birds in full mating plumage. Here are the main players in the Pelican Symphony
The conductors
#1 Herbert von Karajan
#2 Leonard Bernstein
#3 Sir Simon Rattle
#4 Claudio Abbado
#5 Hector Berlioz
And the performers
#6 Luciano Pavarotti
#7 Maria Callas & Giuseppe Di Stefano
#8 Plácido Domingo and José Carreras
#9 The three tenors: Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, and José Carreras
#10 And last but not least, the ballerina Anna Pavlova
What about Andrea Bocelli? I knew this was from La Jolla before you even named it. What a great collection, and captions. I have to admit I do not know all of your conductors of singers but sure I have similar images of them on the Bluff. Bruce

Yes, many options for classical performers. I got the idea for the captions as I was processing the images of the landing pelicans, all of them reminded me of conductor poses.
At the moment there are a gazillion Brandts cormorants on the bluffs, also have some good images from there. Going back tomorrow, weather permitting (it is high tide at sunrise which tends to push the birds higher on the rocks) for some abstracts from the cormorants. Will probably post them in the coming week or two.
