Just received a used mint boxed Yungnuo 23mm 1.4 in RF mount. Paid £99
This is AF and I wasted no time in mounting it to the R50. All lenses perform well stopped down so tried it out wide open at 1.4
The AF seems just fine, neither slow nor blazing fast
The accuracy seems spot on
The sharpness wide open actually surprised me. Seems perfectly fine… I’ll probably leave it at 1.4 until the novelty wears off.
Not sure why the included hood is so large. The lens apparently pruduces great sun stars, sadly it’s raining here in the UK
All in All I’m impressed… very
Would I have paid full price?? Probably not.. that’s because I’m just tight and buy everything used.
The 23mm Yungnuo fills the empty void left over from the EF-m 22mm. Although it’s way bigger than the 22mm pancake, it does handle nicely.
Will I buy more? No, I now have what I wanted, a fast 35-40mm equivalent lens for my aps-c R bodies.
So, if any of you chaps feel tempted by the Yungnuo, I say go for it. 👍🏻
These lenses have lovey metal construction, quick and silent internal focusing, good color and contrast, and my copy is pin sharp in the center.
I think they skirt Canon's patents and prohibition on full frame RF-mount lenses with their unique mount modification--you have to release the lens using a slider on the lens itself--and they are probably using EF protocols. In any case, I have had no issues in actual use.
They should probably be more widely known.

Yongnuo lenses are no joke. Here are a couple with the YN R 85mm f/1.8 DSM II.
