Not that I need another softbox, but these round inflatable models are genuinely intriguing. I am curious whether anyone here has used one and can share some feedback. It seems that very few photographers are adopting them, and I am not quite sure why. I already own several Chinese round alternatives to the SMDV Flip (octa), the flat collapsible ones, but they are still relatively long and cumbersome to carry around at times. The inflatable design feels like the next logical step, light and compact.

This looks kind of gimicky to me. Inflatable ? It will leak over time and the leak will just grow faster.
If travel size/weight is a concern, umbrellas's are my choice. Diffuser cover makes it function like a softbox. They weigh hardly anything and easily fit in the stand bag. Even in studio, I like to use umbrellas. Softbox is my choice if I need the grid.

Interesting. The only benefit would be portability as it folds down into nothing since there’s no supporting rods in it. However, as @ronchau mentioned I would be worried of it deflating. Even a little pinhole leak and it will start drooping down. And if you’re using this in front of clients, you don’t want to be seen with a soft box covered in little tape spots or have to be constantly inflating it. It seems more like a gimmick than anything, but maybe they are durable and I’m just assuming

This is somewhat like the Balloon lighting in filming.
And while I do have umbrellas, these will pack down easily into a carry-on, unlike a similar-sized umbrella. The collapsible, trifold umbrella is very compact, but quite flimsy.
