That picture is killing me Fred! I would have bought this in an instant if it was collapsable. The green and silver looks incredible on the Safari and then there is the bonus of using the green hood on the 35/3.5, hard to resist.

It has to be said, it is very pretty.
Even better when you see it mounted on a Safari M body in person. The Voigtlander 50mm f/3.5 Type I APO-Lanthar in Safari green was a limited run, just 250 made, and it disappeared from shelves pretty quickly. It briefly popped back into stock at B&H Photo today, but I doubt there are many left at this point.

Why is the glossy black one so much less than all the others?
Maybe it is because its silver chrome sibling, the pre-asph 2025 version, is also priced lower than the rest. That one is currently $4,170 while the glossy black version is $4,600.

Anyone have any idea when the black paint Summilux will be releasing? Have one preordered through B&H but they don’t seem to know. Hoping to get it in the next few weeks for a trip to Asia where I was wanting to get some custom engraving artwork done.

28 Cron says coming soon
Is this the first time a Safari lens has been issued in two consecutive versions of the same lens line? The 28 Cron Safari was previously the non-close focus version, now we have the close focus one. The 50 Safari was previously a Cron not a Lux, and Safari in 35 is new.
Off topic, but I’d sure like a revised 50 Cron close focus, changing nothing else about the optics.

Voigtlander should make a small run of olive lenses — not new ones, just a set of their more popular lenses. Maybe they even tweak the external designs so they all share the same filter size.

I doubt this will ever happen: CV is not in the collector item market, and if they made greenish/Safari-fitting lenses in M-mount, the user base for them buying them would be considerable even less than people buying collector based Leica M cameras/lenses. Pretty much CV would fit demand of a niche (cheaper Safari lens look-alikes) inside a niche (M collectors). I don't think that Leica M collectors care much about the price. So the majority of them will always prefer the Leica brand even if the CV lens is as close as possible in performance and look.

Not really, the Safari and BP version are normal run cameras with just a small price premium. So it is very possible that someone may fork an extra £100 just for the green colour on the body. They just need some nice cheap green VMs to go with it.
