p.1 #1 · Looking for some monitor help (30" ACD vs new monitor)
Hey all - I've recently started doing some professional photography in earnest, mostly in the family photography space. For my own personal photos over the last several years, I've used an old Apple 30" Cinema Display. I use it because I love the matte display, the size, and the fact that it has the old Apple aesthetic.
Now that I'm doing professional photos, I'm thinking that I should pay more attention to color accuracy.
When I compare the look of the edited photos from my 30" display to my M2 Macbook Air, they seem slightly different, but really not that far off.
My question is - is it worth trying to calibrate my existing display that I otherwise love? Or is it well past time to upgrade to something else, and if so, to what? I definitely want a matte display (as much as I would love to just get a Studio Display and call it a day). I’d really like to not get too anal here with color calibration and all that stuff, but I do want to provide photos to my clients that look good on their devices (and sometimes printed).
p.1 #2 · Looking for some monitor help (30" ACD vs new monitor)
Wanted to bump this and hopefully get some opinions.
I think the move is to replace the Apple Studio Display with something else. Given that I want a matte screen, I'm leaning toward a BenQ, but am unsure whether I actually need the SW (photographer) line, or whether I'd be fine with a different monitor from them, such as one designed for designers, etc. Those seem to offer a lower price and 5k panels instead of 4k, which would be nice.
Any opinions whether I'd really "need" the SW photographer monitor?
