Came across this beautiful animal perched up in an aspen tree yesterday. He was completely calm the whole time — never moved from the branch. I kept my distance, grabbed a few frames, and left him right where he was. Such a great experience seeing this beautiful animal who is generally stealthy and unseen.

Thank you Tony! I ended up firing off about 50 images total, nearly all were in perfect focus. The branches were definitely a challenge though, mainly for getting a clear composition since many images I captured were obscuring the cat’s eyes by the thin branches — wanted that clear view of both eyes and luckily got a few.

Great shots and lucky you. Love that second shot. All show how good the AF is with that gear.
Thank you Morris—it was tricky getting a clear shot of the face and eyes, #1 was one of the few images where I was able to make micro adjustments in composition to get that shot. Appreciate your feedback!
That is what being a wildlife photographer is about for me, just being there and getting to see things like this makes it worthwhile, thanks for sharing these. Bruce

I appreciate that Bruce and agree wholeheartedly! I felt a connection as I looked into its eyes that I won't forget.

I pick the bookends, 1 because its a great close up, and the last, because it's the only one you can fully see his ear tufts.
Nice catch!
Eric
I appreciate your comment Eric, I too like the one with the tufts and wish I could have gotten more. It was tricky though with all the tight branches getting a clear view.
