Said another way, noise does destroy detail. If a file doesn't lose detail when noise is removed that is because the post-processing is inventing new detail. is this a meta-comment about canonrumors shutting down its forum?? noise certainly makes for more difficult signal recovery.. i appreciated some of the posts there and i learned some good stuff about gear and photography.

A bit of an update on this.

There is going to be a comments section added to the site in the next month or so. It's a big undertaking as we're not going to use Disqus or similar “canned” solutions. We do know how we're going to do it, and it's going to be unlike what most people have ever seen. It will be targetting discussion and not just comments.
