Highly doubtful. They’d have to likely spoof some sort of identifier in the code that tells the camera it is a legit Sony lens or not… pretty sure Sony has a far more well funded legal team the Viltrox.

I already have the Sony TC 2x, but If the Viltrox TC can unlock 15fps+ continue focus on Sigma lenses that would be game changing.

Nope, TC and lens limitations are separate but still, I'm surprised that Viltrox made a TC for Sony and Nikon while supports 120 FPS on some GM lenses cause TC itself is NOT allowed.

Well, unlike Sigma and Tamron, Viltrox and Chinese companies are not under the legal contract instead of reverse engineering their technology like DSLR era. Even if Sony has a legal team, it wont work and affects any Chinese companies as they are well known for ignoring legal problems such as Leofoto. That's why Sony A7V had issues with Chinese lenses recently as they are not officially licensed with Sony.
Besides, Viltrox's TC itself already a huge problem which against Sony's 3rd party policy.

Canon has already stopped some Chinese lenses. So I'm sure Sony can too.
Also note that the pics Viltrox posted showing little degradation of IQ were shot on the A7C2. I would wait till real reviews with 50-60MP cameras come in to make any judgement.
I have to wonder if Sony is gonna block Viltrox TC or not cause if they allow it, then Sigma can make one too especially since Sony does not allow 3rd party TC especially with 120 FPS + AF-C.

Sounds like a reverse engineering job to me
Yawn. So essentially the same as a Sony TC, only cheaper and with additional compatibility to the Viltrox 135 (which no one uses anyway). Now THAT'S a boring product 😅

I mean, it being 1/3rd of Sony's price doesn't seem very irrelevant to me

Thanks for the feedback. Do you still have the Sony TC 2x for comparison ? On which lens was it tested ?
