I did shoot two rols of film on the 35/2, but haven't gotten around to scanning them yet. Printed pictures looked great though! Very happy with that.

I know the hilarious story behind its title, but that’s a lens I have never tried, so I can’t really say much about it. Since you mentioned the 35/1.4 pre-ASPH, though, I’ve always wondered how it compares to the KOB with both lenses shot at f/2.
Good question. I liked the glow from the Lux pre-ASPH, so I don’t think I ever shot it at f/2, just f/1.4 (or f/5.6 or f/8 for landscape). One thing is for sure the Lux pre-ASPH had buckets of flare. I don’t remember the KOB being as wild for flare.

Does anyone know when the Safari Green version of the new Mandler 35mm f/2 is set to be released?
Since I had emailed them expressing interest in the Safari green version previously, Mandler emailed me to give me the option of purchasing a version of the Safari lens that was very dark as it seems they are going to re-try to match the Safari color better. I ultimately passed and let them know I would wait for the better color match. A part of me wanted a "prototype" version of the lens but practicality prevailed (this time). Copied below is their email along with the sample pics they sent me.
"Dear Customer,
Thank you for your interest in our Mandler 35mm Safari Edition lens and for your patience.
We would like to let you know that we currently have a small quantity of Safari Edition lenses available in stock. However, before making a decision, we'd like to provide some additional information about this batch.
Compared to the original Leica Safari lenses and Safari camera bodies, the color of our current batch is slightly darker and deeper in tone. To help you evaluate whether this version meets your expectations, we have attached photos of the actual product as well as comparison images alongside the original Safari lens.
Please feel free to take a look and see if this is the Safari version you are looking for.
The price for this special edition lens is USD 400 for the lens only.
At the moment, we do not have stock of the matching Safari accessories. Therefore, this version is currently available only as a standalone lens. As with our standard 35mm lenses, it will include a front cap, rear cap, and lens case.
We are planning to develop a future Safari version with a color tone that more closely matches the original Safari camera body and lens. However, due to our current production schedule, we are unfortunately unable to provide an estimated release date for the next Safari version at this time.
If there are any additional details you would like to know, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you decide that you would like to purchase the current Safari Edition lens, simply reply to this email to confirm your interest. We will then create a special order for you through Shopify and send you an invoice. Once payment has been completed, we will arrange shipment as soon as possible.
Thank you again for your interest and support of our products. We truly appreciate it and look forward to hearing from you."

I found myself being an owner of this lens a second time.... I got one as a package deal with a mint used M-10P yesterday. Perfect match, and very affordable first kit lens.
I'll most likely grab their 50 also. I love this 35 so much, it's an amazing value for the images it can make.

Thank you for the info. I agree that the color seems a bit too dark, though it's hard to judge accurately since lighting plays such a big role in these comparisons. They're likely busy with the 50mm f/1.4 release right now, but I'd definitely be interested in one of those Safari 35mm f/2 lenses when they become available.
