I don't know what lead the female ruddy ducks to go at it yet they clearly had a score to settle. The fight took place just after I took the photo of the swan sailing by the light of the sunset at the East Pond of Jamaica Bay National Wildlife Refuge here in New York City. They were in deep shade and I switched to photographing them without even thinking about settings as there was no time. The resulting slower shutter speeds were both a benefit and hindrance as I lost a few exciting moments due to the amount of blur yet the blur also adds to the keepers.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris

Great capture...fun also.

Thank you Dan,
It's funny, the only sound I recall was the splashes.
Hah! Who knew they could throw down like that? Fun stuff Morris, especially since it seems no one came out worse for the wear. I think 2 is my pick, but 7 is my favorite pose, I just wish it was a little more locked in. What a hoot!

Thank you Eric,
Yes 2 is the best as a photo. 7 has a lot of motion blur

Excellent series, Morris!
No.s 7&8 are my favorites.
I suspect that one of the females told the other one that she smelled like canvas from a Navy surplus store.
