Seems like they fixed the battery drain/display issue.
Seems like they've given lenses like 100-400 and 200-600 the ability to use the preset focus distance/recall.
The fact that they have specifically talked about new AF (which they rarely do) means this could be a big overhaul. I will install by tomorrow if no bug reports come out.

Interesting!
I wounder if it also improves (static) bird detection, so that it finally matches Canon...
The written web page implies its for people. But it does give one hope that they are continuing to invest in updating AF algorithms and have finally switched gears about adding functionality/improvements in firmware updates vs. just bug fixes.
I saw a post on FB from sometime who updated and shoots hummingbirds mostly.
They said the tracking is definitely improved.
Take that with a grain of salt. Just something I read.

Just a quick note. I had trouble updating with an A card. Switched to a type II SD and had no problems (9III)
No issues here on either my two A1II's or my A9III. I used both an AngelBird type A and an OWC type A card. What version were you updating from and what card brand were you using?
Updated mine also, quick update and just a quick test in the house it seems good, backlit subject 2 stops underexposed and I get instant eye AF green square on where the eye is. Going to have to really test it soon. I wonder if a similar update is coming to the A7R5 soon
I am very interested to evaluate the "tenacious" tracking, it could be useful for situations where my subject (bird) is occluded by foreground vegetation or cliffs. currently you have to let go of AF to avoid latching on to the FG or BG, when the subject reappears it could take a moment to lock back or sometimes it can latch into something entirely different as the "tracking history" is lost.... this could be an improvement in that department
