I just received the lens, and my first impressions are that it is exceptionally well-made, with a pleasant weight and compact size. The focus throw is short, but I actually find that to be a benefit. I did notice a small foam particle on the exterior of the front element, but it was easily removed with a air blower. The Titanium Grey finish is beautiful. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a matching Titanium UV filter and an LLL gold soft shutter button included.
When you guys receive the lenses, I would be interested in your tariff situation.
My wife ordered a Wotancraft camera bag from Taiwan for Christmas. (I purchased the 3.5L in early 2025 and wanted to add the 7L version). I doubted it would excite any tariffs, given the price is <$300.
In the event, FedEx delivered it without demanding a tariff, and I opened it on Christmas Day. But my wife then received a FedEx bill for something like a 45% tariff! Followed by a letter from FedEx enclosing a Dept of Homeland Security bill for it.
So in addition to the already huge income taxes I pay annually, I am being asked for an additional tax of almost 50% on a $279 camera bag! Absurd!! I simply do not understand how or why Trump and the GOP -- my political party, which is supposed to be anti-tax -- believe that taxing Americans through tariffs will improve our economic situation . . . .

Because most won't get a tariff bill. It will just show up unnoticed with a raised consumer price to offset tariffs on the manufacturer.
Nov 10 order for me, on its way, but my order was delayed to merge it with a 28 9 element repair so both could go in one box
quoted 26.56 taxes and fees (CAD), plus whatever UPS adds for their service cut-probably close to 40$ USD once the bill appears in the next day or so. Trivial compared to cost of the lens. Probably next wednesday. looking forward to it and being reunited with my 28.
The lens cost > 800$ allowance before so there would have been a tax in anyway prior to this year- it is quite small.

I am very hopeful about this lens I had the original and Leica told me it would not work with the digital Leicas so I sold it at not a premium. Now can never get that back. I loved that lens.
Following up on this. I did ask Wetzlar and it had to do with non-profile correctable color cast in the extreme peripheral of the digital sensors available during that time.

I have had two Wotancraft orders in the last month without any extra tax/tariff. Seems hit or miss.
