I find it interesting comparing the over-priced (IMHO) Fuji X-100V! with the extremely high price (IMHO) Sony RX1iii..

Their main attraction, I imagine for most, is the portability.
But yeah an 18mm f2 or 27mm f2.8 with an x-series camera is worth considering along with the ricohs.

23mm f2.8 too, but maybe a tad less so. 18mm f2 I haven't heard the best things about but it's not like the x100vi with the wide angle is some rock star image quality either.

It's not like the 23mm f2 is huge either, might be approx the same size with the wide angle adaptor. But if you're putting it in a case to take it out, that case is going to be a bigger one. X100vi slips into some compact ones with how little the lens extends. Just need a place to put the wide angle if you're taking it with you, it's small by itself though.

Not the f1.4 18mm prime, but bigger than the f2:

The wide-angle adaptor is reasonably small but still a chunk of metal. I think x100vi makes less sense if you were planning to keep the wide angle on most of the time.

I appreciate your images showing relative size. But honestly the 18/1.4 on the XE5 is only a bit larger overall than the adapter on the X100v. And at comparable prices in total. It then makes even less sense to me when you compare them with the 18/2. I just don’t get the attraction.

Most people are probably using it without the adaptor I imagine.

I like it for social events when a bigger camera isn't really appropriate. It's borderline cutting it sometimes, that's why I got a very casual case for it. Ricoh 40mm equivalent might be the smarter recommendation for that.

But I think you mix things up and can go on a minimalist trip with the x100vi and have a good time too. Epecially playing with the film simulations.

Been trying to replicate fuji's clarity setting in lightroom and I just can't quite get there.

But if you already have an x-series camera... maybe consider just getting the 27mm f2.8. Not quite as sexy but probably the better buy for this purpose.

GR IIIx I believe is 40mm full-frame equivalent (not 43mm, sorry), and I think f2.8.

Or maybe the pancake 27mm f2.8 for an x-series.

I really like the lens with it. I shoot a lot wide open and getting great results particularly portraits. Astia is still my go to but will try Pro Neg Hi again. No problem with models with darker hair now that I have AI masks via DXO PL9 Elite!

Put a filter on the X100VI and the size difference versus the X pancakes disappears.
