I posted on Sunday afternoon, had some crazy days at work Monday and Tuesday, and came back to this thread to a prolific member essentially calling me a troll and a liar, with multiple people liking the post, yourself included (I see your like has now been removed this morning). Is that considered “helpful” here?
Is RustyBug’s behavior “understandable” in the context of this forum, and that’s worth defending on your part johnvanr? If that’s the case (and I hope not based on the other more helpful members of this forum who posted their advice in this thread without calling me a liar), I guess I should find other forums to post for help on 🤷♂️. ...Show more →
And now you know who here doesn't have a life There's no need to apologize, nor any reason for the others to make insane assumptions about you or your intentions.
Not sure what has transpired, but I’m reminded of my recent purchase of a camera case for a Fujifilm GA670W once I found the camera and it was in route to my house. Turns out that they didn’t have the W, but rather the GA670. I was left with a case and a low likelihood of owning a GA670W. Some of us get a grand plan worked out in our head and jump in only to find out that maybe we should have slowed down. Personally, I recognize my fault, but have yet to rectify things. I will tell you that the XCD 38mm f/2.5V is my favorite lens. It does function better when you have the camera. Same issue with buying an M11 just prior to the introduction of a new model. I agree with the rent first approach, but personally I never had the common sense to do this.

You keep giving me a new reason to hide you every time I think it’s safe to unhide you. Bye.

the M rangefinder are like an extension of my hand and eye, and everything is very fast.
Apologies for the snip but I think this line is the most important in this thread. The above is what you are looking for. Not the M per se but *extension* part. That use to be an M for me as well. Now it’s more Hasselblad leaning. Everything just *works* for me. M’s just work for others. Canikonys are there as well, for some.
Sometimes photographer need.a certain set of tools to get a job done, especially working ones. But for the joy of photography nothing beats when a camera feels so natural that it allows your creativity to flow free.
Well surprise, my backordered X2D II shipped overnight last night, much earlier than expected, so I have it in my hands today. I guess I'll be playing around with MF for a bit before I try out the M system. Thanks again to all the helpful folks in the thread for their detailed perspectives on my GAS predicament.

Initial impressions of the X2D II are great...
Congrats on the new rig.
Apologies for any angst, none intended ... just that we'd seen similar stuff in that past, and it looked peculiar. Hopefully, you'll hang around a whole bunch more than one post / year kinda thing. Looking forward to seeing how you progress with the Hassy.
Again, congrats on the new rig, and "Welcome Back" ...
P.S. If you got a moment, folks might appreciate some info in your bio, name, etc. as we get to know you better.
Rented an M10-R and Voightlander 50mm APO for a weekend; what an eye opening (pun intended) experience!! This comes from shooting w/ Nikon (N90s), Canon (40d, 5s3/1dx) and now Sony.
I had tons of fun shooting w/ it, was a blast! Problem is, do I shed the A1 and 2 GM2 zooms for it, lol?

Others on here have way more experience than I, and are way more invested both literally and practically in their craft. I'm just a lawyer who loves taking pictures. With that in mind, I completely endorse what Rusty writes here. I spent 20+ years as a Sony shooter, had every single body made up to 2022, and most of the lenses ... sold it all a few years ago and began to invest in M system. It's been pure hobbyist joy. I don't know if the pictures are any better or not ... not sure I care that much. But I'm clicking the shutter again and with a lot more creativity. That's kinda all that matters to me. I have no clients (other than the missus), and I make no money from it. So my 2c for whatever that's worth....Show more →
Depends on what other gear you have and what you shoot. I tend to keep full systems in my preferred systems and then choose what I’m carrying based on use case. If I need something longer than 150mm then I’ll take a Sony or SL3 kit. Generally I shoot with the X2D(2). If I want to throw a camera and lens over my shoulder or travel really light then an M or Q (sometimes an A7CR).
I’ve tired to not have any system overlap. That has always failed miserably, for me
Plus The 28-70 and 50-150 are just too fabulous not to have them.
