Not sure this is the right forum, but here goes: I have downloaded many PDF documents from various websites over the years, including Canon. Just recently, I downloaded the User Manual for a new (to me) 5DSR. It went exactly the way I expected: I found it on Canon’s home page, clicked a download link, and within a couple minutes I had a 500+ page, 31 MB file on my computer. I could print out any or all of it. That’s how it has always gone, with everything I’ve downloaded, whether photo-related or not.
I’ve decided to give Canon’s DPP package a whirl, so I downloaded that as well. Then I wanted the User’s Guide for that, and I found it easily but - here’s the problem - I could NOT get it as a complete PDF document, as I did with the camera’s manual. No matter what I did, I could only down load a single page that had links to all the sections of the User’s Guide. This would be useless if I didn’t have an internet connection, which does happen from time to time. Or, if I wanted to print out just a few pages, I think I’d have to rely on screenshots.
Is this because Canon changed something to make it impossible to download the entire document? Seems unlikely; more likely is that I’m doing something wrong. But I don’t see what it is. Any constructive advice would be most appreciated.
I am not a Canon driver, but for the heck of it, I went to the Canon USA web site and downloaded
the 5DSR manual which dates from 2020. Download was instantaneous via my gigabit fiber connection.
I opened the downloaded file on a Windows PC, and all 532 pages were there.
Maybe try it again. Sorry I can't offer any concrete help.
@ jstrawman - thanks, but as I said: I WAS able to download the 5DSR manual. I have that. What I’m not able to get is the User’s Guide to DPP 4.20. At least, not as one complete PDF document.
@Scott - that link for the Mac worked very well, but it’s for DPP 4.15. I’ve got that. I’d like to have the same document for 4.20.30, which I believe is the current version.
Update: I spent some time chasing my tail around on the user forum on Canon’s website, discovering that this question has been posed several times by people having the same experience that I’ve had. At the end of a thread, someone identified as a “Canon Expert” weighed in to tell us that what I want - a downloadable PDF of the latest DPP Instruction Manual - is no longer available. Only as a collection of URL links. So, I give up. Thanks to all who tried to help.
