Finally, a storm came through after a very dry monsoon season. National Weather Service predicted a more rainy season vs last few years but they retracted this after the weather failed to produce significant conditions. This storm came out of nowhere, so I grabbed my gear, half working Manfrotto tripod and took some shots. To my surprised, the first strike actually hit the mountain.

Amazing! All are nice but that first shot is spectacular!
Thank you! When I saw that bolt hit the mountain I was giddy never caught that before. I've taken plenty of storm photos, never one where the lightning hits the ground.

Wow! I live near cave creek. The storm was so intense. I was driving home from downtown dodging trees as the crumbled. What a night. Great capture!!!
Never seen so many trees knocked down. I didn’t even feel that much wind either. It was mostly rain and lightning.

The first is a number one lightning shot. Absolutely stunning and a lightning shooter's dream.
Thank you! I was blinded by it, but when I reviewed the shot and saw it made contact, I was giddy to say the least
