Looks like a Hasselblad XCD 2,8-4/35-100 will also be announced. That's a very good range and unique at the wide end (Fuji offers 45-100 F4).

Yes, got confirmation it will also be introduced on the 26 August

p.2 #2 · Rumor: Hasselblad X2DII to announce on 26 August

Camera Jabber may have hit post too soon?
https://camerajabber.com/photography-news/hasselblad-unveils-x2d-ii-100c-and-new-zoom-lens/

“ Hasselblad has announced the X2D II 100C, an update to the highly respected X2D 100C. This new 100-megapixel medium format camera will be the first to offer true end-to-end high dynamic range (HDR). As well as the new camera body, Hasselblad has also launched the XCD 2,8–4/35–100E, a compact standard zoom lens designed to deliver flagship optical performance across a wide focal range.

The X2D II 100C builds on the original X2D 100C, introducing several key innovations. Chief among them is AF-C continuous autofocus, a first for Hasselblad, powered by deep learning algorithms to deliver faster, more reliable subject detection and tracking. Its Phase Detection Autofocus system now covers 425 zones, supported by LiDAR-assisted focusing and a new AF illuminator for improved performance in low light.

Hasselblad X2D II 100C In terms of image quality, the X2D II 100C features Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution with High Dynamic Range (HNCS HDR), bringing real life colours, greater highlight retention, and richer tonal detail even in difficult lighting. HDR files can be saved as HDR HEIF or Ultra HDR JPEG and can be reviewed on the new 3.6-inch OLED screen, which is now 75% brighter than its predecessor.

At its heart is an enhanced 100MP BSI CMOS sensor with 16-bit colour depth and a dynamic range of 15.3 stops. Combined with a new 10-stop, 5-axis stabilisation system, the camera offers even greater control for hand-held shooting, including the ability to capture long exposures without a tripod. Phocus Mobile 2 expands the workflow further, enabling editing, remote control, and HDR RAW processing directly from an iOS device.

Hasselblad X2D II 100C The X2D II 100C features 1TB of internal storage and a CFexpress Type B slot for expansion, so there should be no worries about running out of storage space even with those high-resolution files. The X2D II 100C design has also been refined over the previous release and now features a lighter body, new graphite grey matte finish, tilting OLED screen, 5D joystick, and customisable controls for improved ergonomics.

Complementing the new body is the XCD 2,8–4/35–100E lens, a versatile standard zoom covering 28–76mm full-frame equivalent. With an aperture range of f/2,8 to f/4, it offers strong low-light performance and smooth bokeh, while maintaining edge-to-edge sharpness. The optical formula includes 16 elements in 13 groups, with three aspherical and five ED elements. This makes it fully capable of meeting the demands of a 100MP sensor.

Hasselblad X2D II 100C The lens employs the fastest stepping motor in the XCD lineup boosts the autofocus. One of the features that Hasselblad cameras are known for is the integrated leaf shutter that supports full flash synchronization up to 1/4000 second, while the compact 894g body ensures handling remains balanced on the new X2D II 100C.”

I'm pleasantly surprised by the price! not that I'm planning to get one... to the extent I upgrade, I'm usually an every-other-model kind of guy, but I like the direction things are headed, for sure.

Wondering how much faster the camera operation will be and if they’ve added any new software features. I remember seeing a rumor about UI/UX improvements. Guess we’ll see in a week.

Is Hasselblad designing and manufacturing these lenses or is another manufacturer helping them out?

After seeing this video of the detrimental effect that LiDAR can have on CMOS sensors, I hate the idea of an increasing reliance on LiDAR for AF purposes. I'd never want to be responsible for ruining someone's camera or phone.

It appears as though (maybe I'm wrong) that your subject would need to also be taking a photo of you (with the shutter open or camera sensor activated) at the exact moment you were focusing on them (with a LiDAR equipped Hasselblad) in order for their cmos sensor to be damaged. Seems like an extreme edge case as I have not heard of widespread issues with - for example - LiDAR equipped iPhones causing damage.

Every year, the use of LiDAR is increasing in various tech applications. I guess time will tell how impactful it might be.

I look forward to the article of two guys shooting pics of each other with the X2D II and ruining each other's camera

Owner and enjoyer of the X2D, but outside of the specs leaked, Hasselblad certainly took some feedback during the last year or so. I don't think it's a headline feature, but for those of us missing it, the new Mark II should feature a "Shutter Control Port". Unsure if it's 2.5mm or 3.5mm from the pictures from December, but it should be next to the USB Type-C Port. Easily the feature that I've missed the most in the X2D.

Hoping very much that we also get untethered Multi-Shot modes with the processing power upgrade.

Wondering if we get slightly better rolling shutter performance on this iteration as well.

I'm still very much wanting a B&W shooting mode not unlike you would see in other mirrorless cameras along with various ways to control jpeg output like color saturation and contrast.

I heard 3.5mm for shutter release control. Either way there are adapters these days.

Have you seen the latest specs??

100MP BSI CMOS medium format sensor
16-bit colour depth, 15.3 stops dynamic range
Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution with HDR
AF-C continuous autofocus, 425 PDAF zones+ Lidar
5-axis, 10-stop in-body image stabilisation
ISO 50 native sensitivity
1TB internal SSD storage + CFexpress Type B slot
3.6-inch OLED tilting screen, 1400-nit brightness
Weight: 7.5% lighter than X2D 100C
Graphite grey matte finish, redesigned ergonomic grip

Assume the EVF is still 1x and 5.76Mdots. All for $7399. Watch out Fuji and even Leica both of whom have increased prices while Hasselblad has decreased this new cameras pricing.

It's very possible that's an international MSRP not adjusted for US tariff pricing.

Where are these made, anyway? I.e., what would the tariff rate even be? Do they have to do it part by part like for watches where you get nailed extra for a swiss movement but maybe not so much for other components ?

That is the US$ price on 26 August from US dealers. What's to doubt?

Hasselblad designs the XCD lenses' optics and Nittoh does all the manufacturing of the lenses in their Japanese facilities to spec. They also took over production of the H lenses from Fujifilm when the partnership for the GX645 ended, so Nittoh's partnership with Hasselblad is nothing new.

ha - i guess i thought maybe it was more complex than that. like some parts from here, some parts from there, 'assembled' vs. 'made' nuance, etc.

That new 35-100 zoom lens is also VERY competitively priced at $4700.

Is it? It's not anything close to being competitive with Fuji GF lenses in regards to price - which arguably is the competition. The closest GF lens, FUJIFILM GF 45-100mm f/4 R LM OIS WR, is close to half the price. While Hasselblad does appear to be getting more price competitive with their bodies, their lenses are what keep their system prices non-competitive with the GF system as a whole (likely partially due to the built-in leaf shutters). That said, I'm not sure Hasselblad must be price competitive.
