I’m seeing some impressive imagery from Z Camp with that 24-120 f/4 , especially with its rendering and closeup capabilities.
Do we have anything close in the E- mount?

Nothing exactly the same but Sony does have a 24-105 f/4 G lens that I had and wasn't too bad. I think the Nikon lens is quite a bit nicer, however.
Also close to that range is the Sigma 28-105 f/2.8, which is bigger and has that faster aperture which can be nice, and if you don't need as much wide coverage and you don't mind a bigger lens many people seem to like the Tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8 as well.
So nothing exactly like the Nikon lens, but several lenses a bit like it with their own plusses and minuses.

As Steve has pointed out, the older 24-105G is the closest Sony has. I haven't used either the Sony or the Nikon, but tests put the Nikon ahead. I've seen some really very impressive tests of the Nikon - it would be great if Sony saw fit to put out a G II version of the 24-105.
The two lenses are about the same weight, in the 660g range, so kudos to Nikon for delivering such a desirable package of performance and weight. Choosing a competing lens like the Sigma 28-105 or Tamron 35-150 would mean carrying a larger lens that weights a lot more.

There has been no answer. I know I get laughed at for it, but I moved to Z simply to get access to the 24-120. Cold dead hands and all that. The G can't hold a candle on close inspection, and really shows its age on the 61mp sensors. Even having had the Z lens since launch day, I still have a few more years experience with the G, so no hyperbole here, just thousands of first hand data points.

If you're willing to sacrifice a bit on both ends and add a lot more weight, there's always the Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8. Optically, it's impressive, has very fast and accurate AF, and it's, you know, less than a kg.

I’ve been wishing Sony would come out with a really good 24-120/4 lens for years. I’m not big on f4 zooms at all, but one with this range that is as good or better than the Nikon would be an instant purchase for me.

I think 16mm 1.8G + either 24-105G or Tamron 28-200 are good travel options. For me, every system have some lens I want but Sony is not currently making, I do have a Nikon just to play with 400mm f4.5 and adapt some Nikon SLR lens I inherited. Although playing with two systems is a pain on its own.

I’m wondering how people rate the Tamron 28-200 vs the Sony 24-105 and Nikon 24-120?
I thought I remembered a rumor about a new Sony travel lens, but looking into it, it is a Sigma travel lens. I think the Sony 24-105 is due for a refresh.

I think Scott is a great photographer. But uses the same equipment with a great photographer may not yield same result. I remember there is a petapixel interview of Sabastian Salgado on his Amazonia project. He stated a lot of picture from that project is shot with canon 1DX and canon dslr version of 24-105.

Nothing...absolutely nothing.
A respected friend of mine (he's 85) claims the Nikkor 24-120mm is the best lens he's ever owned, shot or held.
I tried the Sony 24-105 G once upon a time and returned it disappointed; and I keep thinking that Sony has to be working on an upgraded release soon. As Tamron has shown with their 35-150mm, perhaps Sony should go bigger? Maybe...120mm, 135mm or how about 150mm?
It's puzzling to me that Sony hasn't bothered to release an update to the 24-105/4 which is pushing 8 years old at this point, and doesn't really seem so well suited to the latest high-resolution bodies but there we are.
