I made no changes with the link at page 8, post #14. Why it didn't work at first is unknown. But now you got it! Please let us know how it works for you.

I only got a 33KB file when downloading it. (20250811)

I will update my lens today and let you know my thoughts. Thank you!

I'm curious, have you seen the pulsing/focus issues more in AF-S or AF-C on Sony?

In general, the lens will almost always "breathe" fully during every focus with AF-S on Nikon where AF-C is usually more sure-footed.

Initial tests show it works much better with the lens stopped down and I don't see much of a difference wide open.
I think they worked on the firmware and could have a .03 release soon.

I think you might be referring to contrast detect when you mention "breathe", but on the Sony I don't notice it in either AF-S or AF-C. I'll test the newly downloaded firmware (250828.fir) and confirm.

One idea I had was to watch the corners/vignette through the entire focus range in manual focus. I could not get what I am calling "mechanical vignetting" to appear anywhere from MFD to infinity (since the working theory is that it should appear somewhat regularly around the same focal distance). I also don't see the weird warping/distortion across the frame while doing this either.

A feeling is stuck in my craw that something is happening during AF that is moving the lenses in a way they don't move during MF, as silly as that sounds, which COULD possibly mean an AF update MIGHT improve things.

Are you testing it on Nikon or Sony? The FC shape could be different between the two versions if TTA didn’t optimize the lens for the different sensor stacks, but AF itself shouldn't affect this since it's part of the optical design.

What I call mechanical vignetting is the kind that can't be fully corrected with Lightroom's single vignetting slider. I usually only notice it at very small apertures when focusing at infinity with the TTA 40/2. Personally, I don't really mind this imperfection, but I know you tend to be a bit more sensitive to vignetting in your images.

Testing it on Nikon. Trying to determine which behaviors might be mount specific. The lens is DRASTICALLY worse on my ZF than my Z9, just as the 75/2 was before its rear assembly was improved. The only difference there is the IBIS unit. The pulsing seems to be an issue on both Z and E it sounds like.

Jonas, thanks again for making the 20250811.fir available to us.

I tested it today for 15 minutes on a Sony A7CR and the improvement is very noticeable when focusing stopped down in AF-S and AF-C. The lighting was also after sunset, which makes the results even more noteworthy.

Tracking no longer hesitates and stays locked on the subject at f/4 and f/5.6, just like it does at f/2. This makes the lens much more useful for anyone who stops it down and relies on autofocus. This might be an intermediate firmware before an official release, possibly with additional changes.

For some reason, I can't communicate with them, but if they corrected the focusing direction by reversing it for Sony users, it would be ideal for me.

I have now used the 20250811 firmware (the one Fred mentions as 250828.fir" above, possible to get from the link in post 14 at page 8) for another hour.

The pulsating around the focus point at f/4 and smaller openings shows only sometimes now. I'm happy, for my work, with the AF. I have mailed TTA and let them know about my findings. I also expressed a cautious wish for a version where the focus ring works in the same direction as the Sony, Sigma and so on lenses do.

Thanks! I have downloaded it, however, I am curious to see what firmware my lens will come with. Hopefully it will arrive in a week or so.

Btw, that firmware is only 29kb?

Let's hope TTA manage to make an official new firmware anyone can download from their support pages. Maybe even in time til you get your lens.
This far everyone seem to have got their lenses with software version 01 loaded onto them. And yes, the FIR-file is that size.

To those of you who ordered directly from TTArtisan Store, did yours ship via YunExpress and then via OnTrac? According to YunExpress, the package cleared the custom and it was delivered to OnTrac, however, OnTrac has been "In Transit" for few days now. First, the ETA was 9/7 and now it says 9/10. They really are not "on track".

All of my TTA lenses start with YunExpress to the US mainland, all have arrived in Illinois. They are then handed to various domestic carriers (UPS and USPS for me).

All have taken 7-8 cal days to get to me once it's in the Chinese carrier's hands.

Dang, 7-8 days once delivered to local carrier? I guess I will just have to be patient then. I was hoping to take it on a trip with me this weekend. Oh well!

Ahh ok! In that case, it's been 8 days now. Hopefully soon then. Maybe OnTrac's system is not updating correctly.

My replacement lens for testing showed up today. Given the reports on how the 75/2 AF motors need to have the lens physically struck to "reset", it makes me wonder if their awful packaging is leading to me collecting duds.

On to testing, round 2...

Déjà vu... that's exactly the same way my lens was packed. I hope you got a working copy this time. Do we have any firmware news?
