Not sure about that....the first FW for A1 came out 3 months after release (but wasn't much). The first critical update came at the 5 month mark where they fixed the EVF blackout in direct sun issue.

Text that rotates with camera orientation is very cool. Was always a little jealous when seeing Nikons do this. So great to see Sony give it to us well
Not sure I need to see the folder and date/timestamp when reviewing images though. Not sure if you can turn that off. Cycling through the display options does remove it. But only if you remove all the shot parameters as well. Like Aperture, SS, and ISO
Will have to see if there are any changes to AF. Don’t notice anything obvious

Update was without hitch. But I had hopes that changing the shooting mode through the menu would finally allow changing the mode stored in a memory bank. Or some of the other usability niggles being fixed. But of course not. While I applaud maintaining the firmware of cameras, the rate of improvement is only marginally faster than a super tanker at anchor...

I don’t do either. I remember some cameras require removing the battery for the update to complete. But that’s about as far as I would go. I usually just turn the camera off. And turn it back on
I would only reset the camera if I found an issue with it’s operation
