One day, late-era DSLRs will be fetishized and sought after by a subset of users, watch.

There's a high chance the Canon 1D Mark IV would be one of these, I guess.
I'm still using one for backup or whenever the Nikon Z9 goes away (which lately it has been a few times, since the repair shops I've been going through when repairing my Laowa 10mm lens have been wanting the body for diagnostics... for at least some time. Sad story there). Though have to admit, I'm spoiled by the IQ of the Z9 over the 1D4, and shots from the latter sometimes looks like cellphone to me now (sometimes... not so much at other times especially when I put the reference-grade-sharp Tamron 85mm f/1.8 lens on this camera).

I had a small D750 kit but recently sold it all. I do have a nice Canon 7D kit that I occasionally bring out when I want to shoot something different, but my mirrorless bodies and lenses are better in basically every way, so it doesn’t happen much.

Nope, dropped all my DSLR’s and replaced with mirrorless cameras for the size and weight reduction. There are many other features in mirrorless that just are not available in DSLR’s.

I'm using a Z9 for birds and wildlife alongside a D5, especially in low light. For macro and landscape I'm still using a D850 and D750. I'm not using my D500 much, but that could always change. Have not purchased a Z lens yet, as my F glass is fantastic on the 9. I'm actually thinking about getting another 300 2.8. I'm sure Z glass is great, but I can't see the cost benefit at the moment.
Note: I dislike shooting with light gear, so that's not a factor for me.

My only digital camera is a DSLR (Canon 5DSr), but I hardly ever use it for anything except scanning film these days.

Mostly shooting SLRs, but also a few rangefinder and viewfinder cams.

Apart from a few F-mount lenses is everything mirrorless. I am not much into nostalgia and as I see mirrorless as an upgrade from DSLR is that the obvious move to embrace MILC bodies.

I’m using a D850 as my main camera and a full spectrum D810 for infrared. Tried a Z7 and shot with it for over a year but it felt like a toy compared to the D850 and I don’t have the funds nor the desire/need to go with a Z8 and matching Z series lenses.

These days I mainly use my FF Sony and a Fuji, but at least once a month I take out my Canon 6D. I have a Nikon 24mm 2.8 AIS which pretty much lives on that 6D. I find it to be a sweet pairing.

it's interesting how incremental changes add up over time. My first digital camera was a D50. Then a D200, then I got out of photography for a few years and came back to a D610, then D750, then D850. I left the D850 for a Z6ii, then a Z7ii, then a Z9, then a Z8. Coming from film, I remember my D50 and D200 feeling pretty amazing at the time. I found a D50 at goodwill for $20 a few years ago and it feels so old as to be almost unusable now; all those incremental changes are missing; all those little changes have added up to a big difference. A little better, but same for the D200 I picked up recently because I like the color rendering of the CCDs.

I've primarily used a Z8 over the last couple years and have probably got close to a million shots with them. If you asked me in the abstract how that Z8 compares to a D850, in memory, I remember the D850 fondly; I would say they aren't that different. That is until I picked one up again and shot with it. It's like picking up that D50 a few years ago--it feels very dated. The electronic viewfinders took a while to get used to, but now the optical viewfinders seem so antiquated. No exposure preview, no histogram, no low light brightness, imprecise and limited focus points. Similarly, I remembered the D850s AF system being really good, but the 3d tracking on the Z8 is light years ahead of the D850s. Face recognition on the D850 is hit or miss. It's reliable and out of the way on the Z8. Z8 just lets you focus on the moment and the larger composition. Not to mention how dependent I've become on the tilting LCD screen! Even one direction screens seem hard to use now. Somehow, I forgot the D850 never had IBIS--I use that all the time and forget that just 5 years ago I had never heard of it and needed a VR lens for any stabilization.

I did just pick up a used D810a for a great price and as someone who loves astrophotography, I would love to see a Z version of this camera, but having it in hand also brings back some cool nostalgia. It's also got some cool features like bright monitoring and ability to 32x zoom in liveview that really should have been on every nikon camera between that one and the Z9/Z8 which brought it back.

On the other hand, F mount lenses are still where it's at. I don't own a Z mount lens right now. The last batch of F mounts are a steal. The 28mm 1.4e, the 105mm 1.4e, the 200mm f2 VRii, are all still very competitive lenses but at a fraction of the price. None of those lenses have a true Z mount counterpart/competitor. Heck, the 400mm 2.8 FL can be found for under 4k and it competes with the $14k 400mm 2.8 Z lens for $10k less. The only place where the older F lenses are starting to lose a little to the Z counterparts is if you use pixel shift a lot or just want ultra-sharp landscape shots. The current trend in lens design seems to cater to reviewers who focus disproportionately on test charts and sharpness across the frame. It feels like Nikon has largely shifted to being a brand for birders and landscape photographers. Many of the last F mount lenses did the opposite; they focused on rendering at the expense of flat fields and corner sharpness. In that way, I prefer them to the newer lenses. One of the great things about the Z8/Z9 is that those lenses are now even better than they were on DSLR.

I don't but my son-in-law does. He's kind of weaning himself off the film side of thing. He is a bit of a gadget enthusiast and I understand that completely. I think he'll move to mirrorless at some point. I lent him my D7200 and a couple of lenses in case he wanted them, perhaps as backup on a recent trip. My daughter made him give them back. Apparently he has enough clutter without taking on some of mine. I'm fully engaged with mirror-less now and won't be going back. But, fooling with it a bit, I was reminded how nice a camera it is and could see myself still using the dslr kit if I hadn't or couldn't have moved to mirror-less.

I am using all of my dslr's with very few regrets. My Canon 5DSr is my most used camera. When Canon comes out with a body to rival the high mpx brands mirrorless, I will move then. I have a MF Fuji GFX100sii it is a great camera with a huge learning curve for me.

I have three D500 bodies and half a dozen lenses. I shoot 3-4 days a week. I'm doing just fine. I even have a D7200 that I occasionally use with a 17-50 for a carry around town camera. Our newest car is 10 years old. We have a 40 year-old clothes drier. You get the picture.

Even though I am primarily mirrorless in my shooting, I kept my D4 & D5 to shoot with my f-mount lenses. While the FTZ adapter works fine, I don't care to use it on my Z bodies.

I kept my 5D3 around for about 6 months after getting the R6. AF was the main driver of the upgrade, but the much better high ISO performance has let me get shots I previously wouldn't have even attempted. If I shot mainly static subjects, I'd probably still be using the 5D3 since it produced excellent results.

I didn't know they didn't have appliance stores in Michigan.

On a serious note, an organization with a nearly $20 billion annual budget uses DSLRs (Nikon D6 and D5) for its primary photographer. So they still work.

I've been primarily using my Z7 and Z9 but planning on using my D800 with 58/1.4 this weekend for fun.
