p.1 #1 · Megadap is releasing a new ETZ21 Pro+ lens adapter
Good news for Nikon shooter: Megadap is releasing a new ETZ21 Pro+ lens adapter. So what is this new one with the extra + on the name? It will allow you to stack Sony LA-EA5 A-mount to E-mount adapter. That mean you're now be able to use all of the Minolta AF, Sony SAL Mount lenses on your Nikon.
Z camera + ETZ21 Pro + Sony LA-EA5 + ZA lenses
Some of the example of the lenses would be:
Sony 500mm f/4 G SSM
Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ZA SSM
Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 ZA
Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 135mm f/1.8 ZA
Megadap reached out to me and sent the adapter over. I'll test it out and report back.

Alex, I look forward to seeing your review. Megadap definitely has the best AF support. I wonder if this new improved version will work better with some wide angle lenses, such as the Voigtlander 21mm f1.4. Currently, my 2 ETZ21 Pros are slightly too thin and prevent the Voigtlander 21mm from being sharp in the corners. The Fotodiox Pro Fusion Adapter is much sharper with the Voigtlander 21mm.

I think the MAIN different this time is the additional support for A mount lenses. Not sure about any other improvement on the E mount side. Will find out.

I just had an interesting idea. If we can stack the A adapter, I wonder if we could also stack the Sigma Sigma MC-11. I do have one Canon lens I would like to try on my Z8 (17mm TS) but spending 300 on an adpater for a single MF lens has kept me away.

It is confirm that it has weather seal.
A couple of things I notice have changed from the previous version:
1. It has a weather seal.
2. The diameter is a tad bigger, probably to house the rubber seal.
3. At the back, less circuitry is exposed.
4. Pro + is a bit heavier (46gram vs 44gram)
5. Overall, when holding the new + version, it fell much more solid.

Thanks for sharing. I used the current version on my Z9 and did a test comparing it to the native 2 mount using respective 70-200/2.8 lenses.
The Sony performed well with static subjects, catching the eye. With moving subjects, the hit rate with the Sony was 60-70% whereas was > 95% with the Nikon.
I had done this as was interested in the 50-150/2 from Sony.
As a result, I did a complete system switch to the A1mkII, along with combination of 50-150/2 and lightweight 300/2.8 and a few other lenses. Couldn't be happier

I did exactly the same thing. I was super excited about the 50-150. It really is a spectacular lens, but adapted on a z8, it couldn't keep up reliably for sports shooting, which was a bummer. The downside is that I'm finding that I'm really struggling with the output of the a1ii vs the nikon files. I also think that with native lenses, I still think the Z8 has the edge in AF performance even though I know that's heretical to say.

Just curious but what are you struggling with ? Sony colors used to be an issue, but I find the A1mkII files very pleasing and the transition has been great. The colors are good, files are much cleaner at high ISO, dynamic range as good at low ISOs, and the AF is clearly a step above my Z8 and Z9. I was shooting a dance performance in low light and even with dancers jumping and the head turned to profile with the eye barely visible, it was hitting every shot. And same for subjects coming very fast towards me using the 300mm I've found it much better.

Probably just a difference of preference, but I just find the A1ii files harder to get to where I want them and they don't seem to hold up as well when I push them on creative edits. Using Cobalt profiles helped me, but I still feel like I have to do more work with them. I see many many good results from Sony cameras, so I'm not universally knocking them; I just struggle with them creatively.
As far as AF goes that can be situation dependent. At the end of the day they are both top tier and light years better than the previous generation. The A1ii definitely picks up subjects earlier and does a better job with turned faces. I find it has brain farts from time to time. Z8 does that too, just less frequently. In low light I've found that the Z8 is noticeably better. My reference for that is the 85mm 1.2s vs the 50mm 1.2 GM. Another big caveat for the Sony AF is that it is exceptional with Sony glass, but very hit or miss for fast action with third party lenses, whereas the Nikon system seems to tolerate non-native glass better. This of course is ironic to say in a post where I just said the etz can struggle on fast subjects. But the FTZ works better than on F mount for me with Nikon and Sigma glass. My experience with the ETZ adapters is that they work wonderfully for slow subjects. They hiccup from time to time, though, and for fast subjects the hit rate definitely isn't ideal. I think that's more on the firmware/software of the adapter than it is on Nikon's AF system.
