Will be very curious how those third party batteries work out, I'd be very glad to have an option for the M240 if one is ever released.
I'm very excited as someone currently saving for a M10, I did exclusively use my 3rd party usb charger for my m240 batteries so I feel very safe using that, never had an issue using 3rd party batteries with any other camera I owned but of course this is more expensive than any other camera I'ved owned as well lol

Astonishing this is still going on. They just make the sale and move on. Total bs. Here I am somehow still wishing I could afford an 11P lol.
Rich I put my name on the list with Leica USA a while back and when they did come in they notified me and I pick up another battery. (I now have 10 for my M10s and my M 10 Mono). And B&H had some in stock for a while. Good to see someone else making them now at a really low price. I would be interested in how well they perform. I had some issues with 3rd party batteries when I had my Canons some years back. They just didn't last like the Canon batteries did.

I did the same but sold my Leica by the time they came and they wanted I think $200. Bonkers.

It's likely the same factory producing this third-party battery under different brand names. A manufacturer in China seems to have figured out how to make a working SCL5 battery for the Leica M10 series, which is great news for the long-term usability of these cameras...assuming the performance is close to the original Leica battery.

I ordered this third-party battery just for fun for about $20. It arrived today and is working perfectly so far. It came with 40% charge, and once it drops to around 20% I'll charge it up and see how well it holds.

Idk, voltages really need to match Leica chargers with little wiggle room, but third party experimental batteries can be culprits to SD freezes and firmware.

Reading the M11 threads it does not seem you need a 3rd party battery to experience that.

The third-party battery I got came with about a 40% charge out of the box. I used it down to around 15%, then charged it to 100%. After that, I brought it down to 20%, charged it up to 80%, and now it's sitting at around 65% and I've taken a ton of shots with it. Performance has been pretty much the same as the genuine Leica battery. No weird issues, no freezes. This one seems legit and I definitely recommend it.
Will it hold up long-term? We'll see. But it's a relief not having to rely on Leica for these anymore.

Encouraging news. I have one on order from Amazon, (the Cameron Sino one, the maker is shown as FYIOGXG) and it is expected early next week. I do have a question for Fred, or anyone else that is well-versed in the M10R:
As a new user of an M10R, (used) I found that the Leica battery that came with it, when it got to around 40% as reported on the camera, caused some interesting effects with the camera. I would have to push the "play" button 2-3 times in order to see what was just shot. Actually, pressing any of the buttons ) LV, Play ,Menu, or the center 'enter' button followed by the 'play" button would bring up images, but a single press of "play" would not work until I recharged the battery. I am trying to run it down again to below the 40% level to see if this was just a one-off. Any comments welcome!

That's definitely not normal, no matter the battery level. I'd contact Leica support.

Follow-up to my M10R question on button responses.
As Fred suggested, I checked with NJ Leica, and they suggested trying another battery. I did explain the problem with their suggestion, since none seem to be available, but that went nowhere! ( airfrogusmc, thanks for the B&H update on stock )
In any event, the Sino battery I had on order arrived on Friday, at about 40% charge level, like Fred's. I got it down to 5%, and did not experience any 'button problems.' Recharged and discharged it three more times, (turned off 'battery saver' feature and used it to take a lot of photos of my back yard! Each time it went down to the 5-10% range, with NO camera button problems, so it may be that the original Leica battery is the problem, as was suggested by Leica. I will probably order a second one of the Sinos through Amazon. Thanks to Fred for the quick reply; now to go back to looking for more interesting photo subjects.

Thanks for your report. It's definitely surprising that the original Leica battery was causing the issues you described, while the third-party Chinese version worked without any problems. I've been using a third-party battery exclusively with my M10-P to test its reliability, and my experience has been the same...no issues at all. It holds a charge just like the Leica battery, and I haven't run into freezing or any other problems while using it.

I used to have weird OEM battery issues w my M-E (M9). If the battery was about 50% or lower it would not sync with my Leica Sf24D flashes. I had two and it did this with both.

I remember having a third party battery for the M9 what was junk. Never worked as the original, so I'm not surprised by your experience.
