35mm is my FL, My FLE has been basically glued to my m10r since I got it. This is the 1st m-lens I can see myself buying since the 35mm SR. Can't wait to try one...If, indeed this is real and impending which it seems it is.

Looks small even for a f/1.2. Similar or even more compact compared to the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2 Nokton.
Given the size, I hope it is like their new 50 Lux where ultimate IQ is not really the goal, but a small lens with good economics and nice rendering that cleans up once stopped down a bit the periphery of the frame.
If it follow this pattern, like a 35 Lux FLE, I’d be stoked. They’ll probably make it a 35/1.19 just to smite CV 😂

Leica has never been too precise when it comes to focal lengths – or even aperture values, like with the Summarit series: Initially labeled as f/2.5, and then in the new version, with the same optical design, marked as f/2.4.
It kind of reminds me of combustion engines. Those so-called 2.0-liter engines are actually 1.98 liters, just to stay under the “less than 2.0 liters displacement” tax bracket. In Leica’s case, it’s the opposite: 0.01 more aperture means 5,000 euros more margin. ✨😁
Seriously though, I expect the price to be in the range of the 75mm f/1.25 and 90mm f/1.5 – so well over 10,000 euros.
Have a closer look at the depth of field scales on the rumour site image:
Comparing f/16 marking with the 35 Summilux and 40mm Voitländer, this looks to be a 40 or 43mm lens.
Raises interesting questions for the M12 frame lines or is it the launch partner for the M11-V.
- If it's an f/1.2 it'll probably be too expensive to justify getting it over my 35mm Summilux FLE ASPH.
- If it's an f/1 or f/0.95 it'll probably be huge and stupidly expensive (over $12K anyone?) and I would not be able to justify getting it over my 35mm Summilux FLE ASPH.
I should just keep my eye out for a used Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 of f/1.

Shhhh don't let them know that the actual focal lengths are printed on the lens for some of them. My 50 lux is ~52mm for instance.

IF that picture is real….wow, that looks amazing
It might be a fake image. The depth of field scale shows markings that suggest a longer focal length than 35mm.
All of my 35mm lenses have the f/16 mark pointing between 2 and 3 meters when set to infinity. I’ve never seen one go past 3 meters like in the photo shown.

That just makes Leica a company who produces camera lenses. If you look at lens patents (especially with zooms, but primes aren't excepted) their patented focal length and speed rarely match the exact advertised specs.
The dof markings are arbitrary at best with the resolution of modern sensors being so high.
