I've noticed the prices in B&S have gone up as well. I got a basically brand new Z8 with an extra battery for $2,700 just 4 months ago and they seem to be around $3000 lately. A few months before I got mine I remember seeing some around $2500.

If US consumers show a willingness to keep buying at the higher prices, foreign manufacturers will just continue business as usual. Canada's trade surplus with the US actually grew last month despite the tariffs - the opposite of what Trump is claiming his tariffs will do - so Americans seem to be okay with paying more.
Meanwhile, countries are actively working to expand trade networks with other countries to bypass the US to avoid the Trump tariff gong show.
1-2 months is too short a period to make predictions about annual GDP.
"Italy risks losing 20 billion euros ($23.6 billion) in exports and 118,000 jobs next year if the U.S. imposes tariffs of 10% on all European products, the head of the main Italian business lobby said on Wednesday.
'Italy does not just export luxury products - with a demand that isn't very sensitive to prices - but mainly machinery, means of transport, and leather goods,' Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini told in an interview." https://www.reuters.com/business/italy-could-lose-20-bln-euros-exports-118000-jobs-with-us-tariffs-industry-head-2025-07-02/
Now, if US as a whole will be okay with paying more, this will cause inflation, higher cost of money and lower domestic and foreign investment. Good luck.

this will make selling my Nikon gear a wash after September 1st. Not that I don't love it, but it's too big to lug around.
Except that the absolute cost of switching to whatever you think will serve your needs better will also increase since all the manufacturers have applied the Trump foreign product consumer tax (aka tariffs) to their prices.

MAYBE a little. I already have all Sony stuff, so, grabbing a mint used A1 for $3400, I am good with that, and money back in my pocket.
The a1/a1II is a great camera, the only one I consider a credible alternative to the Z8.
Too bad it doesn’t enable the usage of Z mount lenses.
I just did a shoot last night in the city with the 35mm f1.2, 50mm f1.2, 85mm f1.2 and Plena and every one of these enabled me to capture frames I really like. I just wouldn’t want to miss that opportunity.
I must say that although I understand the appeal of compactness I always end up prioritizing results over anything else. Clients don’t care how heavy my gear is. They just care about the results. And therefore so do I. All that obviously depending on affordability.
Good ol' days of $2900 for Z8 is no more! This is now a $4,399 camera and the Z9 is $5899? Z6 III is $2699.. and used prices will surely go up. The tariffs were ruled illegal and are now voided... so the question is, do manufactures drop prices again or is this the new normal? Apparently, NikonRumors says the new tariffs are mostly impacting F-Mount lenses.

The tariffs are not “voided”. They are allowed to be enforced at least until October 14th in order for SCOTUS to have their say. And SCOTUS doesn’t need to rule one way or another by then either, they can just extend the hold on the lower court ruling indefinitely while they hear the appeal and take their sweet time to make a decision. And of course in the end SCOTUS could overturn the lower court and leave the tariffs in place permanently.
So probably plan on the tariffs still being around for a good while at this point.

That's what I imagine, it'll go to SOCTUS who will most likely allow them.
Many companies are already priced in and might keep it that way regardless of what happens with the tariffs. If people aren't willing to pay then prices may start coming down again, but at that point we may have bigger issues.

What is more likely to happen is a gradual shift of stock allocations from the US to countries where customers are willing to buy at the asked price.
Expect the R6III, Z9II,... to be nearly impossible to buy in the US for a year.
A similar, albeit slightly different, mechanism happened with many brands in Japan when the Yen started to go down. Since they were not able to/didn't want to increase their prices immediately it was more profitable for them to sell in other countries, so they decided to under stock in Japan. It became nearly impossible to buy anything new from those brands until they decided to raise their prices by 30%. And after having realized that people don't buy at those higher prices... back to low stock again.
Seems like we are seeing Nikon offering on again / off again rebate/discounts to help offset the tariff increases. If your patient, you can save a little.
