NR reports price increases are coming June Posted in May
A reader sent me a link to a Reddit discussion, where a member claimed that a Nikon rep has confirmed a new price increase is coming to the US in June:
“Went to a demo day and met a Nikon Rep. was told if there’s gear I want at the current price buy before June as that’s when potential increases will take effect.”
I cannot confirm this rumor, but I know that the new rebates introduced yesterday were intended to include a wider range of lenses. However, Nikon apparently cut back the list (and, presumably, the rebate amounts) at the last moment. The new rebates are set to expire on June 1st....Show more →

2nd Price increase coming Sept 1st - Which undoubtedly used prices will also see a rise.
A Nikon rep telling people prices are about to go up is a good way to actually move product right now. With that said unless something changes politically prices are going to go up on everything and it should start really soon.
The Fstoppers latest and second vid on tariffs covers the topic well.

The honestly can't keep up with what tariffs have been charged to whom and how much and what's been rolled back and what's been increased and when they go into effect and what has been given a 90-day pause, etc etc etc. However, the impending threat of tariffs caused me to finally upgrade my remaining piece of F-mount glass. I'm somewhat surprised that Nikon is doing their sale right now, so I decided to take advantage just in case. This last lens to replace is the most expensive in my arsenal and I didn't want to sit idly and watch it get even more expensive in the coming months.
Does he also dislike mirror manufacturers and any other contributors to him risking to encounter a realistic image of who he is and what he does? The objective media outlets certainly seem to fall in the same bucket.
Or is it a general dislike of the US citizens for whom the cost of things matters? Just stop to be poor, weak and old for God’s sake…
Does he just dislike reality? His recent firing of the jobs statistics person would indicate so.
His approach is wrong imo.. this bullying tactic hurts the US on many fronts like geopolitically and economic. Not sure what the benefit of people paying more for stuff, especially products critical to one's business. So these tariffs aren't going away either. In fact, its another sneaky way to fund the government. A 2nd tax if you would.

NikonUSA had it refurbished for just over $11k last month, if I recall correctly.
The 400TC hit around 8-9k during their last big sale. The 600TC was 11k. Check my post history for exact prices.

Ok, now all the prices are jumping 25% as Japan and Thailand are getting hit with more inflationary measures aka tariffs. So… yeah
Japan and Thailand aren't getting hit with anything.
US consumers are getting hit with 25% taxes on goods they buy that come from those countries.
If US consumers show a willingness to keep buying at the higher prices, foreign manufacturers will just continue business as usual. Canada's trade surplus with the US actually grew last month despite the tariffs - the opposite of what Trump is claiming his tariffs will do - so Americans seem to be okay with paying more.
