I haven't found any other sources confirming this, but it seems LeicaRumors received this information directly from Leica.
Both the Leica MP Black and Silver are currently in stock at B&H Photo, though it's unclear whether production will continue, especially for the Silver version.
Actually that kinda makes sense. the MP black with its brassing is kinda why people buy MP's. If you don't want your camera to brass, you buy an M6 in black or chrome.
Or you buy 2 - M6 classics from 25 years ago for the same money and have one in black and chrome, like I did.

Goes in line with my thinking - Leica tries to push for more M6 sales especially after some "hiccup" with scratch gate there. I suspect that many customers still went with the MP cameras instead of the new M6.

I had a M-A, not scratching film, but I don't like it. So I traded it in for a silver MP, which scratched. So I returned it and got M6 re-issue which is not scratching.
Of course all three had those cute hand signed quality check cards.

My Silver Chrome MP was free of film scratching issues ( 2nd half 2023 - so well after the 'scratch gate' discovery date ).

"Scratchgate" is when it became famous/notorious. Reading various Leica forums, owners have been reporting film scratching MPs and M-As for a while, but those seemed to be rare.
With the re-introduction of the M6 it seems the pressure plate supplier got even sloppier than before and far more scratchers were produced.
