Z30 w/ 16-50 is a good kick around camera for $399
Can't overstate the degree to which this camera surprised me. I grabbed it at a similar price a few months ago, expecting to give it to one of the kids or having it on hand for when someone wanted to shoot alongside me.
Well, I did give it to my daughter, and ordered another. Gave that one away, and ordered another.
It's TINY. Like having a lens cap with a grip that takes a battery and SD card. It opens up all sorts of fun options. Winter jacket pocket? The Z30 fits in there. With the 26/2.8, it almost fits in a jeans pocket. Cargo pocket, surely. And yet it's still the same sensor we see in the Z50ii, can still pull off 11fps, and I find myself using it as a second body for wildlife trips. It takes a 70-200 VERY well, and the resulting images are fantastic. It fits into social situations where something like the Z8 might not — even when it's wearing a comically large lens. It just has a whimsy to it which belies its true potential. Stealthy, silly fun.
For $399 including a kick-around lens, you'd be silly not to at least try it. If nothing else, you've got a good gift for someone.
Enjoy, it's a great lens. It's excellent for the event work I use it for. It's kinda my fault that I use the GF 110 more than it for the majority of my headshot and on location portraiture work. RoamingScott wrote:
Screw it, I'm in for an 85 1.2. First time someone posting these sales has cost ME money, now I know how it feels

I plan to put it against the 110 to see which I prefer more and ditch the lesser.
I kept both. They are basically stuck to dedicated purposes. Events, video and basically anything I have 0 control over is the 85 1.2. Headshots, studio, on location portrait work is the 110. I like the aspect ratio and colors out of the GFX system. RoamingScott wrote:

The 85 being able to...actually AF-C...for sports is exciting and my main compelling reason to switch. The 110 is GOATed for portraits.
Yup. I don't use GFX for unpredictable stuff for a reason RoamingScott wrote:

That stinks. I haven’t bought returns from Nikon before, do they have an option for exchange? Does this depend on availability?

Bleh, my 85 1.2 has multiple pieces of debris behind the front element. Likely wouldn’t affect IQ but would for sure affect resale.
