Haha. I am just slowly following the trace of the herd.
I will get to the R series eventually but as an occasional user, this is more than enough for me. My lovely ef glasses will outlive all those bodies I have owned combined and will eventually get to the r body as well.
I am not as enthusiastic as before but the new body is fascinating for someone from a decade ago!
Just a heads up
I recently added a used EL-100 flashgun I normally use the 270ex or the bigger units. But they are too big and the 270ex is great but no swivel. The EL-100 is small and compact has both bounce and swivel and takes just 2 AA cells. It’s a game changer to keep in the bag just incase.

Well, the 6D MK II was launched late in 2017, so 2.5 years short of a decade. Oddly, the feature I liked best was the LED overlay in the optical viewfinder, especially the electronic level. It's much less distracting than the electronic levels used in recent EVFs (more transparent).
I noticed it too, and I like it.
The added features are definitely good improvements. It feels much more refined than the mk1.
I tested the Af with servo while my toddler was walking toward me and it worked very well with 85mm.
I will enjoy the old tech for now and see where we go next.
I too love pepper paste and sliced pork

The 6D is a great camera and I hear a lot that it's better than the Mark 2. If you want a big improvement, look for a used 5DSR which is an amazing DSLR and you can find them biw for under $1000. At 50mp and the only Canon to get around the AA filter, photos are just sharper then any other Canon cameras I'm aware of. Even the new Canon mirrorless I believe have AA filters. I have both 3 6D's and 2 5DSR's but I converted 2 of the 6Ds to IR and had the AA filter removed on the 3rd one. However, when I'm taking serious photos, I take the 5DSRs because the photos are always better. And if you have a good collection of Canon Pro lenses, you'll really see the difference.
Good luck.

The 6D is still my main camera
I love the simplicity..Love it!!
I care not a jot it’s classed as old tech…so what! 🤣. I have two 6D’s one I use and a mint boxed 522 shutter count spare for when my user dies 🤣
We had a week away last year and with a 128gb card plus a spare battery and just my favourite 40stm I was good to go. Didn’t touch the spare battery !! Amazing camera 👍🏻
I also loved my 6D. The centre focussing point was surefooted and I took many great photos with it, from rugby to landscape. Somehow the lack of a good tracking AF didn't seem to matter. I relegated it to standby status when the R6 came along, and suddenly found that tracking to be almost infalable and Bird shots became much easier. Still amazes me how it can find the birds eye at 30 metres. My 6D no longer turns on, and it's not worth fixing so it sits in the cupboard for old times sake. Two great cameras by Canon.

I’m still using my old 6D. I guess I’ll eventually move to an R, but for now, I’m still shooting with a toddler in tow!
Today, I came across a 6D Mark II on Facebook Marketplace for what seems like a fair price. The seller says it has less than 10K shutter count and was bought in late 2022. They’re asking $320.
Would this be a worthwhile upgrade, or just a waste of money?
The 6D II probably had more issues winning forum wars than taking actual photos
Magic Lantern apparently gets 6D DR to modern levels and the high iso looks quite good. Should be able to get iso 12800-25600 out of it imo
I'd definitely get a 6Dmk2. Have the 6D and 6D2 and the latter still performs just fine. How does ML help with dynamic range? Or are we just talking for long exposures?

I too owned the 6D and 6D MK II for many years—my landscape and travel cams. Really liked how the 6D MK II felt in my hands and loved the optical VF with LED overlay, especially the superimposed level. EVF levels cover the frame and thus suck green donkey wangs. With that said, yes, any recent model FF R series like the R6, R6 MK II, R8 has a stop or two better dynamic range. No biggie unless you dance at the extremes. The big improvement is the amazing AI servo tracking and 4K video. So unless you're into BIF, extreme sports or video, you won't see much difference in your results. I shoot lots of AI servo and video, so bowed down before Canon almighty and offered my best plastic for the R drug.
