The Purple Martin is the largest swallow in North America and is known for fast and seemingly erratic flight. I was lucky to capture this one whizzing by.

The Hunt for Red (-Necked Phalarope) looked like to be ending this September in my side of the town. Sometimes they (with Wilson's Phalarope as well) stays up to October. Done four Saturday visits on one location were they were frequently seen during fall migration. First visit were too few and too far. 2nd and 3rd visits yielded some usable captures but half of the views were mostly against the light. Last visit last Saturday yielded none. Another possible site was mostly closed due to constructions. As they reach the SF Bay areas during this fall migration, only small traces of their breeding plumage could be detected.
