Australia Sampler 8: Crested Pigeon
Almost a year since the Australian visit and I am still struggling (busy with other stuff) to look up and process captured images. The Crested Pigeon pics below were one pass lucky snaps - just caught them from the corner of my eyes while landing on a nearby park (Nurragingy Preserve, walking distance from in-laws' house) and released a short burst. Could only stay for a few minutes for some documentation stills and did not see them for the rest of the walk/hike. The last encounter was a few days later from a guided tour - perched and not moving much and it was between waiting for them for possible flight but the guide and companions were pointing to a perched Azure Kingfisher. Just got documentation shots from both of them and then need to move on.

How Western Gray Squirrel beats the heat. They dig a hole and stretch out in the cool dirt. They also use their tail as a sunshade and split the hairs to help the tail release heat.
