Near the main whooping crane wintering grounds. This area is in Lamar, TX. This is a large pasture between two roads, and Aransas Bay borders one end. Drought conditions in much of Texas, and this is no exception. The cranes will roam the entire pasture if it is wet. There is this small lake that is normally much higher. It is in the middle, and that is where they stayed. I used my 1.4X. To add to the challenging distance was overcast weather. I still got a few good ones. I visit this area every year, once or twice.
