We were worried a baby bunny fell into our window well, but when I went to retrieve it, I noticed some grass and a hollowed out area under the window well itself so I set up my A1ii in Timelapse and set up the Sigma 14-24 shooting out the window and suddenly there are four bunnies in the burrow! Lilac-breasted Roller...
They are widely distributed in sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula, preferring open woodland and savanna. In some African cultures, the Lilac-breasted Roller is considered a symbol of love, marriage, and devotion due to its monogamous nature and shared parental duties.
The Afrikaans word for the roller, “troupand,” translates to “wedding band”. The Venda people of South Africa and Zimbabwe have historically fashioned wedding rings from the bird’s colorful feathers, and these feathers have also adorned South African wedding dresses.

Feeding or fighting story? While scanning the sky for Acorn Woodpecker BIFs from a recent photobirding walk; a couple of birds (looked like California Towhee) landed in front of me and started some actions on the ground. Since unexpected, just pointed the gears towards the action and did spray and pray shots. As expected; missed some shots, some blurry and some with recognizable details to be usable for sharing. Please find some usable action captures that could be feeding or something else.
