Bruce, excellent and enjoyable captures! Your outing to Pt Reyes was way more rewarding than mine a few years ago. The bobcat we saw was at least a mile away and no coyotes at all. The consolation back then was provided by a flock of California quails.

Great collection, I like how you've captured some of the atmosphere of the place.
Thank you very much... I am a big fan of overcast and foggy conditions as it makes wildlife images a bit moody.

Thanks Tony... It was the elk that caused me to pause and wait. There were 6 of them bedded down and silhouetted. After 40 minutes one stood up... it was a coyote walking by that agitated it. Waiting for the elk then created the opportunity to see the coyote reunion and howling... You just got to love it when patience creates opportunities.

Thanks for the note Joshua...
I've had outings at Point Reyes that matches your description, and I've had outings like the one I had last week. I've been visitng the region since 2014. Now that I live within a 2 hour drive, I try to go every other month or so. As with most things, repetition increases the chance for serendipity.

Superb set. I would love to get there someday. Your shots make me wish it was sooner rather than later.

Thank you John... Point Reyes has a lot to offer. It is this strange mix of prairie, coastal forest, agricultural land, coastal landscapes, and historic structures. If you plan to visit, give yourself at least 3 days to grow accustomed to the ebb and flow of the days.
I'll be heading back in April... every season has something unique going on.
cheers,

Greg,
Thanks for the comment... I appreciate it. This is a great place to photograph "smaller" predators. While I've yet to seen them there, I know that Pt Reyes has a fairly large badger and weasel population. The bobcats are my favorite species to photograph there, and my inability to get one with a gopher in its mouth keeps bringing me back

Thanks KD... It was a great 2.5 days of shooting. At times nothing was around and then, boom there was so much going on that I didn't know where to point the camera!
We should talk about visiting this area together at some point.
bruce
Most certainly. Let's discuss and finalize our summer plans
