I had the pleasure of photographing these Short-eared Owls from mid afternoon until after sunset—it was an incredible experience! I've shot them a handful of times this winter, but this time was an exception, as they generally only start hunting after sunset. I spent several cold afternoons waiting with little action until sunset. Taking photos after sunset was a unique challenge, but I found even more joy in simply watching and listening to the owls hunt in near darkness.

amazing set of pictures of a beautiful bird. they are all good, but the flight shots stand out. this was a day where it seems everything worked out good while you were out there. thanks for going out in the cold and taking these pictures.

These are really beautiful. What a great outing ! I love the snow and the fenceposts. You may have inspired me to make a three hour drive this afternoon
