p.1 #1 · #1164 Free of Grandiosity, But Not of Grandeur
It took 19 years for 7 stonemasons to construct Grundtvig's Church, entirely out of 6 million identical yellow bricks— even the altar is made from the same bricks. It is a monument to architecture as art and splendor in simplicity. I could shoot inside this church all day long.
Being a Protestant church, it is free of idolatry and completely devoid of any decoration, besides the necessary chandeliers and the large model sailing ship that is free-hanging from the ceiling (which is found in most if not all Nordic churches). The only artwork present is the architecture itself.
