He's not breaking any rules though.
Not something you can say.
Yeah, there are the Sony fanboys that can't bear to read discussions about other gear brands, and then the Sony users that can carry on civil conversations about any non-Sony gear. Some are former Canon and Nikon users and I guess certain Sony fanboys would tar and feather them also it they dared to post Canon or Nikon comments on this forum. Guess it is a 'stroke my ego' thing.
Same thing happens on the Canon and Nikon forums when someone mentions Sony. Go figure.

I think those photos are rubbish, but you can't make any descitions upon them because atleast 1 thing:
* Way to slow shutterspeed is used 1/250-1/500 at 800mm on an Highmegapixel camera (A7RV) for moving subjects
There are some movements like the camera was not balanced, but there are visible defects that are not motion.
I can see the strong CA at 800mm and the flarey/ghosty look. Some spherical aberrations also? At least the central area has decent resolution and the borkehs are not obnoxious. I suspect that the IQ will improve slightly 1/3 stop down like the 200-600 at f/7.1. It's hard to see how well the optics will correct until there is a DXO profile for the 400-800.
For the record I shoot both Sony and OM. Love the 150-400 Oly 4.5 lens but am underwhelmed by the OM-1 compared to the A1 II.
The A1 II is so good that it feels like cheating. The OM-1 is pretty good but needs a resolution bump and is not on par with the A1 II for subject recognition and tracking. Love the Precapture for sure and that was a driver for the A1 II.
I hope that OM somehow gets off of the 20mp they have been stuck on for quite some time.
Time will tell on the 400-800. I'm not ready to dump the 200-600 yet and don't want to lug around the 600F4.
I do wish that Sony had come out with a long faster zoom with a built in TC. Flipping the lever for the extra reach on the OM zoom is awesome.

Does anyone know what Arca Swiss compatible replacement foot will work for the new Sony 400-800mm lens?
From the Back Country website/forum.
"I just checked B&H mine is still showing backordered and an email will be sent when shipped. I was the first to call at 0900hrs and place an order. Hope mine goes out soon. I looked under the “Under Q&A” a sony rep replied to this question about the foot and the 400mm and 600mm foot will not work on this lens. Going to have to attach a plate on the bottom for the mean time "
I'm looking forward to using this lens for nature portraits in lower light with my A7R5. In good light, action shots will be an option too. The big question for me is what I'll end up doing with my 200-600. It's a really good copy.

From Leofoto:
"This is a new lens, and the lens foot for it will take some time to develop as the factory has many current projects. We certainly hope it will be ready soon, but we appreciate your patience at the moment."
We may have to wait a bit, for now just attach a long Arca plate to it
I would and patiently wait since I prefer Leofoto products to others
Why do we have to wait for a foot? What is it about the lens manufacturers (except Sigma) that they refuse to listen to their customer base? So easy to cut an arca swiss dovetail.
There are multiple valid reasons for not building Arca ready foot asides from royalties
Use AI to see the reasons , too many to list out here

Do companies still need to pay Arca Swiss royalties? I don’t know all the legalities, but I thought international patents lasted 20 years. I believe the arca swiss dovetail has been around longer than that
I know very little about the topic though. So I may be completely wrong
No, companies no longer need to pay royalties to Arca-Swiss for using the Arca-Swiss quick-release system. The design has become an industry standard, and many manufacturers now produce compatible plates and clamps without licensing fees. However, Arca-Swiss still holds trademarks on its brand name, so companies cannot market their products as "Arca-Swiss" unless they are officially associated with the brand. Instead, they typically use terms like "Arca-compatible" or "Arca-style."

More focal length testing on my copy of the 200-600mm lens fully extended to 600mm. Again, I'm measuring the distance to the subject and the width of the subject on a diagonal with a tape measure.
At 10m to the subject, the focal length calculates to 546mm
At 30m, the focal length calculates to 583mm
At 80m, the focal length calculates to 598mm
And while I was at it, I also did my 100-400mm GM fully extended to 400mm
At 10m to the subject, the focal length calculates to 377mm
At 30m, the focal length calculates to 391mm
At 80m, the focal length calculates to 395mm
