Yes, seems to be the same optics.
For the 40mm 1.2, this unfortunately also means that it still has 10 aperture blades instead of matching the 12 blades of the 35mm and 50mm. On the other hand: Saves money. And honestly, I don’t even see the chrome ring on my 40mm anyway 😄

It won't be an ideal general walkaround lens due to weight but I think I can still enjoy shooting with it as I've gotten along with my 50/1 and 75/1.5 E-mount versions that are in similar weight class. Also, the new 75/1.8 doesn't come with a hood (it seems it doesn't need one the way it's designed) so there's no additional hood-weight to be added.

They posted various informations gradually yestereday evening so I didn't capture everything in my initial posts about this topic and

It will be tough to resist the new CV 75mm f/1.8 E with the SA ring, even though I already have the 75mm f/1.8 VM. The VM version isn’t exactly lightweight at 423 grams, and it’s fairly large for an f/1.8 lens. The new E-mount version seems to share the same Heliar optical design with 6 elements in 3 groups.

Here are other similar Cosina Heliar designs:

By the way, in my Voigtlander 75mm f/1.9 Ultron review, I compared it in terms of resolution, contrast, and rendering:

For obvious reasons there are no plans at this time for release of the new CV 75mm f/1.8 with SA control for M mount, but one would hope it might be a future consideration for those that use M mount lenses on SL cameras as well as on the "upcoming rumored Leica EVF-M full frame camera. I suspect a lens of that type would be welcomed.

If the EVF-M comes onto the market, a compact M-mount shift lens would be something for Voigtländer to consider.

I really hope that Voigtländer will release the upcoming 28 f/2 APO, as well as their 90 f/2 APO, on Sony FE. I have and love the 50 APO, and I previously had the 35 APO, but I find 35mm and 50mm a bit too close. A set of 28, 50 and 90 APO would be perfect.

My other wish is for Voigtländer or Zeiss (now that they're back to doing photo lenses), to release new ultra-wide lenses, like an update to the 15 Heliar (with a removable lens hood and slightly improved optics), or even another 21mm; the f/3.5 isn't quite there optically, the f/1.4 is not necessary for me due to size and weight (though not heavy or big for what it is), and the Loxia got frustrating haptics and could probably be made slightly lighter.

I might buy the 15 H, one of the 21's and a 35 Loxia for now anyway, as they can found for reasonable prices used, and resell them if and when the 28 APO and potential ultra-wides get released. If the 28 APO doesn't, I will replace the 35 Loxia with the 35 APO. The latter is a tough sell where I live, so I rather not take the risk if they do release the 28 APO.

The 35 APO disappointed me in only producing well-defined sunstars at f/11 and slower, in difraction territory, while the 50 APO does so much earlier, from f/4, so I hope the 28 APO follows the 50 APO. The 35 APO copies I had, were just as good as the 50 APO copies, both in terms of resolution and lack of aberrations.
The 50 built was a bit more smooth, in terms of the focus and aperture rings.

I did consider adapting the 90 f/2 APO, but it doesn't perform optimally when adapted, and the 90 f/2.8 APO is a bit disappointing, I think. Or perhaps, I might just try a M11 for longer than a few minutes in a store, and see if it's for me. Always admired manual focus through a rangefinder, though I often will need to use the screen, as I use ultra-wide a lot. It just seems fun to use, but of course not the most accurate.

The dial-an-aberration idea must be catching on. We see bolt-on devices in the cine/transition world that emulates film era aesthetics.

'Module 8 (a spin-off of Moment) has officially announced what they are claiming is the world’s first variable-look cinematic lens system. It was designed to work with your existing glass to bring a classic film aesthetic when using mirrorless digital cameras. It’s strange times we live in when someone releases a product that was specifically designed to make lenses optically worse!'

'..they can design any specific aberration into the lens or any combination of aberrations for truly unique looks. They can also add third and higher-order spherical aberration and subtle chromatic to create bloom and glow.' 'they can even add coma, astigmatism, and other aberrations to render the edges of the frame in a softer way and create unusual depth of field effects.'

I'll have 30% of each of SA and inward curvature, thank you. But hold the coma and give me 40% astigmatism, I need that one to soften the corners like a wide M lens on a Sony. And give me 5% LoCA, to take the edges off a little.

Not a lot of size savings to be had by designing a shift lens for M, they need to be highly telecentric and therefore a reverse telephoto design like SLR shift lenses.

I guess it's too late now to FedEx over an official FM credential.

But in seriousness, this might be something to look into for future CP+ expos. It could allow Juha earlier access on media days so he wouldn't have to fight with the rest of the general public for a few minutes with the lenses.

I did go to CP+ today (I took Friday off from work to be able to go on a weekday, with hopefully less crowds) and the queues weren't too long at the Cosina area, and they did allow me and others to shoot freely with the new lenses in the Cosina area and not just at the counter. I shot quite much with the new Portrait Heliar, mainly relatively close range shots trying out all the SA control settings, and I also tried the Zeiss Otus 50/1.4. Also tried to get some far distance shots with the Heliar but there wasn't anyhing very good to shoot at for measuring corner-to-corner performance. I'll see if any of those samples are presentable.

I also had a nice talk with Zeiss Category Manager for Photography whom I spotted at Cosina area. She happens to be also a Finn with similar background as me (went to same University as me and we both worked at Nokia previously). I didn't know her personally from before but it was nice to talk in Finnish and she also offered to let me shoot with her personal copy of Otus 50/1.4 (though I had just shot a bit with a loaner copy from Cosina counter already). I gave some personal feedback on the lenses too and we talked a lot about other topics too

Later I also had a nice talk with Cosina's head of marketing and sales (Sato-san who does the presentations in all of their new product introduction videos). I got confirmation that the Portrait Heliar is indeed directly based on the earlier VM 75/1.8 in terms of optical design. I also got a strong feeling that they are planning to do the 28/2 APO-Lanthar for mirrorless mounts as well, although they wouldn't make any definitive statements about such unannounced plans. Sato-san said that they are strongly considering it or something like that.

I also got invited to the joint stage event by Cosina and Zeiss (presented by Sato-san, Petra (the Finnish Manager) and Koichi Akagi -san who is a very well known photographer in Japan and involved in many camera/photography magazines), talking about the new Otus line. One Cosina staff member came to talk to me about the stage presentation asking if I wanted to see it. I wonder if I was already recognized as the official fredmiranda.com representative even though I didn't advertise it The stage event was open for CP+ visitors but I think most regular people weren't too well aware of such stage presentations. Many of the people there seemed to be some press-representatives. This presentation was in a different area than the event hall (2 floors up in dedicated stage presentation area).

I'm going to share some samples taken with the Portrait Heliar soon, need to go through them first and do some picking.

I'm also planning to go back for a 2nd round probably tomorrow as I didn't have enough time to see everything today.

Hi Juha, did you have a chance to try or handle the 28/2 APO? I'm strongly anxious to see it in Sony FE mount, hopefully end of this year!

I'm jealous that you're able to see it in person! At least we can experience it vicariously, through your eyes.

Thanks so much for sharing your impressions.

PS
It's not Voigtlander, but if you get to the Sigma booth, I'm curious to know if this knurled ring on the 300-600mm has any function.

I didn't try it today as I figured it might not work so well adapted on Sony (as the 35/2 and 50/2 VM APO-Lanthars don't adapt well). I'll see if I have a chance to try it tomorrow.

I saw some people handling the lens at Sigma area today... I'll see if I can find out tomorrow There seemed to be quite a lot of people queuing for BF touch and try. I didn't go for it since I didn't want to wait in a queue for a long time.

I did visit the LK Samyang area too, and asked them about new lens units for Remaster Slim as well as about the new Schneider Kreuznach x LK Samyang 14-24mm f/2.8 lens. They did say that new lens units are in the plans for Remaster Slim but since there are no announcements yet they can't say any details now.

The new zoom will be announced officially next week, so need to wait for price and release timing info until then.

Portrait Heliar on my Sony A7CII (couple of smartphone pics showing the lens on camera):
https://photos.app.goo.gl/XBYJ7AMuQGoxaubu7

Some sample shots (SOOC JPEGs taken on my A7CII):
https://photos.app.goo.gl/v9XUCQWzRDUbXkjP7

I used EFCS and anti-flicker ON on all of the shots since the event hall is artificially lit and the shutter speeds were relatively slow so I think there would be no ill effects on bokeh from using EFCS. I didn't want to get any banding effects from using ES in artificial light.

There are a couple of sequence shots there where I tried to shoot the same target going through all the different SA control settings one by one from the most undercorrected (soft focus effect) to the most overcorrected (while shooting wide open at f1.8). There are markers for 6 undercorrected positions and 4 overcorrected positions and the "middle" position, so overall 11 different positions are marked. The extreme end positions have hard stops, and the "middle" position has a click stop as well, but the intermediate undercorrected and overcorrected positions have no click stops, so it's possible to use any in-between settings too.

When there are 11 shots of the same target in a sequence, they would always be progressing from most undercorrected to the most overcorrected, step by step. The 7th shot would be the one with standard correction. The first sequence has 12 shots so I must have made some mistake there and shot with one position twice. There are also some non-sequence shots. Not very scientific test but I think it gives some idea on the range of control.

The most undercorrected settings produce really strong soft focus effects.

I think I will enjoy this lens a lot personally as it offers a lot of shooting options. I didn't really explore other apertures than f1.8 except for the one wall shot at f5.6. I will try to get some better stopped down shots tomorrow.
