All the screw-dots I've seen (in person) just haven't matched the finish - black or silver. They always seem a bit off in either color or texture.
Also, I felt like a bit of a poseur when I had a silver one on my M.

The version from the first post in this thread produced a silver dot that matches the Leica M chrome finish best. Unfortunately, only a few were made before it was discontinued.
On Ags supply, what's the difference between Black Matte vs Black Satin? And which one would be appropriate for the original black aluminum M11? (Not m11 M, P, D, or black paint)
$68 for a little brass circle? Wow. I get the whole “look cleaner than tape” thing, but I’m not sure I can justify dropping that much just to cover a red dot. Personally, I’d just slap on some gaffer tape like I’ve done with my old M6 when traveling cheap, easy, and comes off clean.
That said, I have to admit it does look nice in Fred’s photos. Maybe for a collector or someone really obsessed with that flush, “stealthy Leica” vibe, it’s worth it. For the rest of us, tape works just fine.
