Congratulations to Abuttolph for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 3 votes - View Previous Winners
This August I spent two weeks in the Maasai Mara area on my first East African safari. What an incredible experience. Before the trip, I asked a lot of questions on the African Safari thread here on FM and received excellent input and advice from members here. I want to thank all of those who provided their assistance to helping make this a successful trip.
I have many many images to go through, but wanted to go ahead and post a few of them. These were all shot in the Ripoi Conservancy and Maasai Mara National Reserve. I also spent time in Nairobi National Park and in various places in Tanzania, but for this initial post, I am keeping the images limited to the Maasai Mara region.

Superb set of images, Adele! Your compositions made it impossible to just scroll through the set; I had to pause and admire the detail and story in each one. Excellent work!

What a trip, and such great moments, not a klunker in the whole bunch, all well thought out and cropped with care and processed just right. You almost have the makings of a great photo book in just one post. Congratulations Adele!

Thank you, everyone for your kind words on my images. It always brings a smile to my face when people enjoy my images.
The cheetah hunt was the only one that I saw on this trip. It was interesting. There was a lone small antelope (I don't remember which type) that was in range of the cheetah and seemed to be completely unaware of the cheetah's presence. We all thought for sure that the cheetah would go for the antelope. As it started off in that direction, the hare burst out of the bushes and the cheetah immediately went for it. The chase was unbelievably fast and did not last long at all. The hare lost and the cheetah had a snack. It was very exciting indeed and I was quite glad to have been able to get this shot.
Eric - thanks for the idea of a photo book! That had not occurred to me but it would really make for a nice project and addition to my collection of books on African wildlife.
I will post more once I have a chance to review and edit.

These are a beautiful set of images, very sharp, lovely lighting. Looks like you had great success with your lens combination for the trip. I am wondering if you compared any images between the 300GM + 2 xTC vs the 200-600 zoom.
