These are a beautiful set of images, very sharp, lovely lighting. Looks like you had great success with your lens combination for the trip. I am wondering if you compared any images between the 300GM + 2 xTC vs the 200-600 zoom.
Thank you for the compliments on my images. Yes, I was indeed happy with the lens combination for the trip. While I did not do any direct comparison between the 200-600 and the 300 w/ 2x TC while on this trip, I can say that I am happy with both. My copy of the 200-600 is superb and it is very sharp. That said, when swapping between the two lenses when I was in the field, I could tell a difference even when shooting. The 300 with the 2x seemed brighter and of course it is smaller and lighter. My feeling is that the 300, with or without teleconverters, is the superior lens and it has a nicer rendering. One main difference that I have noted here at home is that the 300 with the 2x TC is far superior at resolving detail at distance. I tested this out by photographing trees on a mountain that are about four to five miles from my house. With the 200-600 at 600mm, the trees are mush. With the 300 + 2x TC, the tree trunks, limbs, and even shadows from the trees are resolved. I don't know what the distance is where the resolving capability between the two lenses starts to diverge though. The 300 is an amazing lens.

Kenya is amazing and I am sure that I will go back at some point. You are fortunate to have been there several times and I hope that you can continue to visit such an amazing place.
