Very heavy fog, mist over the battlefield of Gettysburg and a moon that was crescent but highlighted by the reflecting light over a dead tree. An optical illusion of sorts! Nothing but the tree and moon were light. The variances in tones was from the fog.
This was taken from the very high visitor tower near the Eisenhower Farm.
Jon it was an eerie feeling atop the visitor tower. The entire battlefield was covered in a thick fog and a very light mist was falling! The tower has a roof! There was another tree, barely visable, to the frames right but too far away in the frame when I processed the image. So I cropped it out. Only when I downloaded the image did I see all the "noisy" variations in the tones of light. Color was too busy! There is also some "glow" on the backside of the dead tree.
The moon appears almost full but it was a waning crescent moon. There is some light distortion that can be seen on the lower left of the moon.
Thanks! I always enjoy the assignments and always welcome members participating. Year I dont like being the only entry either!

A great capture Dan. A WOW shot.
I was REAL lucky Ted!!!!! The moonrise was great. Where I was on the tower, it was misting and the fog was heavy and just above the ground! The moon was projecting an eerie light and was reflecting off the tree, clouds and fog!
Thanks!
