Our cherry tree has loads of blossoms this year and the bumblebees love it.
This lens is really versatile. It has a lot of geometric vignetting with resulting cats eye effect but it is sharp and bokeh is nice all around. The camera-lens combination is light and small enough. My Sigma 100-400 offers more reach and more harmonious image quality but it is less portable and (for me) already a bit unwieldy.
A quick question for owners of this lens: I received my copy today. When I took it out of the box, I was startled by the rattling sound it made. I shook it and thought, "Something must be loose in there!" I called the retailer I bought it from, and they asked, "Have you tried mounting it on the camera yet? Does it make that noise when the camera is turned on?" So, I attached it to my A7V and switched it on—and lo and behold, the rattling was gone. Now I suspect the image stabilizer (or something similar) is the culprit. But is that possible? I’ve owned a few lenses with built-in image stabilization before, but none of them ever rattled. This one is pretty extreme—at least to my ears. But perhaps it’s normal? What is it like with your copies?
