Are you talking about the haptics of the Leica APO, or, like me, about the optical performance and the character? I’m not really sure what exactly you meant there 😅

congrats! Look forward to seeing pics!
Speaking of that, I'm not sure whether the original pre asph version images belong in this thread which is technically for the reissue classic, although I've been posting here.
I haven't shown my v2 enough love lately, so I took it out for a spin yesterday with the M11M. Wide open the effect is dreamy cotton candy, and with foreground subject, it has excellent 3D pop. Stopped down to f4, to my non-pixel peeping eyes it's plenty sharp.
I would take the pre ASPH v2 or v3 over this reissue any day. I know the reissue is not meant to be identical to the OGs, but the Steel Rim reissue feels about 95% like the original. This latest one, in my opinion, is a completely new look and character.
I had a chance to buy the 50 summilux reissue in black paint recently, I played it for about half an hour and didn’t take it. My original pre-ASPH v2 in v1 scallops housing is much more pleasant and cheaper.
I may however take a ASPH version in safari though. I feel this one might be a good addition to my arsenal.

Just a quick update: I sent the lens back due to back-focusing. Shot it just a couple of days, not sure I'll get it (again) over the Classic (re-issue). I do have the ASPH v1 and still debating between the pre-ASPH v2 (E46) and the Classic re-issue. To my eyes, the Classic "has something" to (some of) the images it captures...

I haven't used the classic reissue, however I did watch MathPhotographer's review of it including various images shot wide open. I thought those images looked much like my 50 asph (v2) which I had before the 50 pre asph, they didn't seem to have the vintage vibe of my 50 pre asph, especially on wide open shots. When I'm back in April at the home where the 50 asph is sitting, I'm going to sell it as inasmuch as the 50 pre asph (to me) wide open is more unique/special, and stopped down (to my non-pixel peeping eyes) is just about equal to the 50 asph.

About the e43 v2, would some owners tell me if the blades of their version do stick out a bit at 1.4 in the body or if they are fully retracted?
I just checked. My copy at f1.4 the blades are fully retracted, can't see them.

I am not necessarily after vintage vibe. It must be like Fred said above, a completely new lens and rendering, but I happen to like it, in some situations. What I am not so sure is if an, say, v1 ASPH would have rendered the same or different in the same situation.
It is the same situation like the new LLL Aspherical copy, which does not render like the original, but the owners are still happy with its rendering (somehow missing or ignoring the main reason they bought it was to have the 35 ASPHERICAL lens/rendering for a fraction of its price).

Thank you for the insight, I’m checking a few and noticed some do have the blades that stick out a bit and some seem to not do so. But it’s hard to judge solely on the pictures I find.
This lens shines in both aesthetics and optics. I already sent one back because of the aperture ring (BP 11713). Unfortunately, the aperture ring on the new lens I got from my dealer today is also loose, compared to my previous experience with other lenses and a silver one which was available in the store. This is mainly the case at 1.4, but also little less clicky afterwords. I will try to adapt my shooting technique over the next few days to avoid changing the aperture unintentionally.
Well, I have sent 2 silver lenses back to dealer due to the loose aperture ring issue. Now I am, eventually, chasing for a used one, since it can get checked (by the seller) before commiting to buy it.
But, on the other hand, my interest for it has decreased quite a lot. More so, I have set aside my M240P and dusted-off my A7CR and have bought a couple of Loxia/Voigtlander lenses (sending 3 more Leica lenses - all 35/50 'luxes - back to the sellers for different defects/issues did help decrease my Leica appetite).
Bump!
Just got, today, my third copy of the 50mm Summilux Classic lens in silver! (I must really want this lens !?!)
Guess what? Of course!
Back she will go!
Excellent job, Leica!

Please tell me to give up
Is it not supposed to be that way? Maybe 3 lenses is how Leica wanted it and you keep getting good copies.

Last week I got a third one in BP. This time it’s perfect and I am keeping it for now. It is very cool in black paint but I am still not sure whether it can replace my 11892 in my heart ☺️
