I bought a Lux 11892 yesterday. Offer was too good. Cheaper as a used Classic and full warranty from a Leica Store. But thanks for the conversation.
, it will be the Classic (given it does not have the aperture ring looseness problem).
For what it's worth, my 50 pre-asph v2 has zero looseness in the aperture ring. It's a flawless copy, like new.
You won! I just succumbed for a Titanium version of it
I mean....I do have a Titanium M6 to go with it
Just a quick update: I sent the lens back due to back-focusing. Shot it just a couple of days, not sure I'll get it (again) over the Classic (re-issue). I do have the ASPH v1 and still debating between the pre-ASPH v2 (E46) and the Classic re-issue. To my eyes, the Classic "has something" to (some of) the images it captures...
I haven't used the classic reissue, however I did watch MathPhotographer's review of it including various images shot wide open. I thought those images looked much like my 50 asph (v2) which I had before the 50 pre asph, they didn't seem to have the vintage vibe of my 50 pre asph, especially on wide open shots. When I'm back in April at the home where the 50 asph is sitting, I'm going to sell it as inasmuch as the 50 pre asph (to me) wide open is more unique/special, and stopped down (to my non-pixel peeping eyes) is just about equal to the 50 asph.
I am not necessarily after vintage vibe. It must be like Fred said above, a completely new lens and rendering, but I happen to like it, in some situations. What I am not so sure is if a, say, v1 ASPH would have rendered the same or different in the same situation.
It is the same situation like the new LLL Aspherical copy, which does not render like the original, but the owners are still happy with its rendering (somehow missing or ignoring the main reason they bought it was to have the 35 ASPHERICAL lens/rendering for a fraction of its price).
